"Don't worry, Anna. I'll tell her, okay? Just let me think about the best way to do it.""Okay.""Promise me? Promise you won't say anything?""Don't worry." I laughed. "It's our secret, right?"According to her best friend Frankie, twenty days in Zanzibar Bay is the perfect opportunity to have a summer fling, and if they meet one boy ever day, there's a pretty good chance Anna will find her first summer romance. Anna lightheartedly agrees to the game, but there's something she hasn't told Frankie---she's already had that kind of romance, and it was with Frankie's older brother, Matt, just before his tragic death one year ago.Beautifully written and emotionally honest, this is a debut novel that explores what it truly means to love someone and what it means to grieve, and ultimately, how to make the most of every single moment this world has to offer.

The tagged book is my choice for this #AestheticallyMatched picture prompt! ❤️

PageShifter Awesome picture 3y
SRWCF Hello! I hate to be such a dolt 🤪, but can you please explain the #aestheticallymatched hashtag? I've scrolled through those hashtags and could never find the exact explanation, and I really want to start using it...correctly. 3y
Clwojick @SRWCF hey! So there‘s a bunch of pictures I selected, and as you read your books in 2022 you match your books to the photos. It can be matched in anyway you want. For example, the book cover could have something similar with a picture, or it could be set in a certain city, or the MC could be a lawyer, etc. 3y
SRWCF @Clwojick thank you for the explanation! Sounds fun! 3y

Pickpick

Although I‘m not super into YA books anymore, this one pulled at my heartstrings and had me tearing up a few times. The writing was a little juvenile for me, but again I‘m not the intended audience so I didn‘t let that alter my rating. Overall 4/5 but probably won‘t be rushing to read more YA romance. This was number 24 for #Roll100 and one of my #BookSpin reads!

OriginalCyn620 This is on my TBR! 3y

This book fell flat. You learn how matts death affected people but never learn who these characters are.

This book fits the prompt but it is the WORST and you should avoid it. I can‘t remember who recommended it to me but I‘m never listening to her again. 😂 #alltheyoungdudes #marchintothe70s

Lizpixie I wouldn‘t either!🤢 6y

Just finished this up and it was pretty solid. Not what I‘d call spectacular but entertaining enough, that I finished it within two days.

Read this a long time ago. Pretty sure I was supposed to hate it. Pretty sure I didn't! 🤣 Oh well, the rules of #summerreads are different! #riotgrams

Plus, loved this quote!
“Weeping is not the same thing as crying. It takes your whole body to weep, and when it's over, you feel like you don't have any bones left to hold you up.”

Two friends look for romance on a summer trip in this YA contemporary book. Despite mixed reviews, I'm definitely interested to see what happens. #TBR #LyricalApril #Holiday

Jas16 I liked this one. 8y
Cinfhen I don't love YA but the cover and title peaked my interest! I'm curious to read your review 🙂 8y
Zelma This one has a lot more depth than just looking for a summer romance. I actually really loved it. 8y

I really loved The Summer of Chasing Mermaids, but after reading this one and having really struggled through a couple of chapters of another, I don't think I'm going to pick up another Sarah Ockler. 😕
The characters in this one were annoying and the plot wasn't the most solid thing in the world. I love her writing, but it was just not fun to read.

Why is it so hard to read books when there's a deadline attached?? I really should be reading Passenger so I can take it back to the library on time, but I keep getting pulled toward lighter books.
Also, I can't request any more books at the library (including the next in the raven cycle!) until I pick up the ones I have waiting for me, but my library is a polling place so I've been avoiding the people with their brochures since I voted!

GirlMeetsBook I totally think people shouldn't be able to push their agendas on Election Day any where near polling places. It's so uncomfortable!! :( 8y
nrheckel @GirlMeetsBook it's so weird, I just moved to Miami and I never experienced anything like this in washington! I wouldn't have even thought it would be allowed honestly 8y
GirlMeetsBook @nrheckel My small town only has one polling place. So there's always a gaggle of people that I try into to hide from. 👎🏼 8y
nrheckel @GirlMeetsBook oh that is so uncomfortable - at least I don't know the people I'm trying to avoid!👎👎 8y
