Jane Austen - Sanditon
Jane Austen - Sanditon: The last novel by Jane Austen | Jane Austen
3 posts | 3 read | 1 reading
A couple from the seaside resort of Sandition get into a carriage accident near the home of Charlotte, our heroine. Charlotte's family helps them and nurses Mr. Parker who sprains his ankle. In return they take Charlotte back with them to Sandition to give her a nice holiday. Sandition, although it remained unfinished, is truly Jane Austen at her funniest. A comedy, it continues the strain of burlesque and caricature she wrote as a teenager and in private throughout her life.

Definitely a favorite from March 2022! I really enjoyed this Jane Austen novel finished by “another lady”. It was a fun and funny romance read with the #PemberLittens. And while I‘d love to know how Austen would have finished it, I thought the guest author did a great job.

Pickpick

I picked it up for the #Pemberlittens group read last month, but didn‘t get to it in time. This edition was finished in 1975 by “another lady” and I must say, it was delightful! The plotting and characterization were great and the romance very sweet. Who knows how Austen would have continued it? But the other lady did an excellent job.
