X doesn t have a name. He thought he had one or many but that might be the result of the failing memories of the personalities imprinted within him. Or maybe he really is called X.He s also not as human as he believes himself to be.But when he discovers the existence of another above ground, outside the protection of the Warren X must learn what it means to be human, or face the destruction of their two species."

Mehso-so

This was an impulse pick at the library the other day, the idea seemed interesting, X wants to know if he is human or not and what its purpose is. Altogether it was rather boring and nothing was ever actually answered. It had intriguing moments but nothing mind blowing.

Lately I‘ve been reaching for the more understated and unusual books hoping to find a hidden gem in all its dark and twisty glory. Maybe it‘s the winter weather, or maybe it‘s just me. Grad school can do that to a person😂🤷🏻‍♀️ Either way, I‘m hoping to find something deliciously unsettling in this stack👻🖤☠️

placebeyondthespines @BarbaraBB that‘s SO funny you mention that because I‘m about half way through the audiobook now!! I‘m loving it! Thank you for the recommendation. Are there any others you recommend? 6y
BarbaraBB What a coincidence! I just had to think of that one when reading your post. Another scary weird one I loved is 6y

Reading this one out in the hot hot sun this morning. Making me slightly worried about the future for mankind. Guess if this reminds me of anything, it's that movie 9.

BekahB Oh, I can't wait for this one! Brian Evenson is fantastic! 8y
Dogearedcopy Ack, no! I've barely recovered from Paulo Bacigalupi's 'The Water Knife'! #climatefic 😬 8y
Dogearedcopy OK, clearly I should have read the book description before I commented or at least not jumped to a bizarre conclusion by judging the cover! For some reason, I thought the book was an arid, radioactive near-futurescape caused by environmental neglect and human arrogance. Don't mind me! 8y
SGJ Well, it is a pretty arid terrible place ... 8y
