Lost at Sea | Bryan Lee O'Malley

Raleigh doesn't have a soul. A cat stole it at least that's what she tells people at least that's what she would tell people if she told people anything. But that would mean talking to people, and the mere thought of social interaction is terrifying. How did such a shy teenage girl end up in a car with three of her hooligan classmates on a cross-country road trip? Being forced to interact with kids her own age is a new and alarming proposition for Raleigh, but maybe it's just what she needs or maybe it can help her find what she needs or maybe it can help her to realize that what she needs has been with her all along. This special hardcover edition of Bryan Lee O'Malley's classic coming-of-age graphic novel includes previously uncollected shorts and extra bonus material.

This book was beautiful and heartbreaking and real and got me right in the gut, it was like seeing my thoughts on paper, what an experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love road trip stories. This one was sweet and awkward, and focuses on the main character figuring out it's okay not to have life figured out at 18. I've seen some negative reviews of this, but it was a sweet story everyone can relate to. ☀️☀️☀️🌤

This was a cute story of self discovery and acceptance. Raleigh is 18 and feels she lost her soul to a cat at 14. She's on a road trip with 3 other teens who aren't necessarily her friends. Raleigh is confused, lost and suffers from nightmares. She finds it hard to speak to others and keeps to herself. Eventually she opens up to Sam and together discover they have more in common than they thought. #24in48

Hour Nine #24in48 check in. A little breakfast to get my morning going. Cinnamon Rolls & fruit with coffee and orange juice. I'm trailing a bit behind in reading so changing gears to a graphic novel for a little motivation. Good Morning all. Happy Reading.

My modest book haul from the library sale yesterday. I limited myself to a measly 45 minutes so I basically only got to go through the YA and kids sections. I'm super excited for Lost at Sea, Dog Diaries, Fractured Fairytales, Ereth's Birthday and Barkbelly. I also got a bunch of picture books but haven't had a chance to take pics yet. As you can see I held back!📚📚📚

Brought my #litsypartyofone to the laundromat. The earlier I get my chores out the way the more time I'll have to relax and read later on. Happy Saturday Morning to all.

I've been 18 & confused. But idk if this book helps. I feel more confused after reading it.

But one thing stuck with me, maybe the theme or the point? That it's important to connect with people around you...or just to connect with people even if it's via the internet. Not to do so, may leave you feeling like a cat has your soul...& they will follow you till you get it back? Lol.

Idk. Interesting read at least. What did you get from it?

QuoteQueen @BookBoggart this is the first and only thing of his I've read. Hubs got it for me thinking I'd like it, so I'm giving it a shot. 😊 8y
BookBoggart @VeteransWife512 Well it could be more your thing then mine. I'm obsessed with Scott Pilgrim. 😄 8y

The stars are nature's time machine. Although not a bad graphic novel. By far my least favorite one by him. #muchlove #latenightgraphicnovel #deep

Christmas book #1

Hubs thought it looked like something I would like. Not really sure what it's about, but the hubs knows me well so I'm sure I'll love it. 😊

Lost at Sea was Bryan Lee O'Malley's first graphic novel and my #MinimalistBookCover pick for #augustofpages #bookphotochallenge . It's not as zany as Scott Pilgrim, but it is a sweet story that evokes the absurdity and confusion of transitioning from a kid to an adult.

I love how this book captures the awfulness, absurdity and hope all bungled together in being a young adult. Several of Raleigh's passages described my young self's feelings so exactly that it was strange to read. 🎯
