Not wow-worthy, but an entertaining story. I loved the audiobook narrator and the 90s throwbacks. The characters got on my nerves and the ending felt incomplete, but I enjoyed it for the most part.

I really liked this one. It was a tad too sexual for me but other then that I loved it. I loved the vibes and two best friends going on a scavenger hunt. Light and fluffy read, totally needed this!

1. Tagged - a NJ Mall in the early 1990's took me back ❤
2. Both really. The USA is large, so the familiarity of local places is a comfort & easy to read; further states I haven't visited can be explored but maintain our shared country's history. Foreign countries can show me how other cultures live... sometimes similarly & sometimes vastly different.

That pup ⬆️🤩😍
If I was really reliving my days working at the mall, I‘d be wearing polyester and eating a chick-Fil-A brownie. (We didn‘t have a Cinnabon)
It was the summer of 1991 when Cassie grew up. The music was cheesy as hell but catchy. Grunge music is starting to take hold of America. (Thank God!) The mall smelled like hairspray and Cinnabons, with hints of cucumber melon or sun-ripped raspberry body lotion. Music was mostly bought on cassette tapes and in one fictional mall in Ocean County, NJ, we learn the hierarchy of mall jobs. It's a scale of 90210 guys with Dylan McKays at the top ⬇️
YASSSSS! This nostalgic, fun novel set in a 90‘s mall was amazeballs. So much fun!!! #ARC #Netgalley
It‘s so refreshing to have a book where a teen girl doesn‘t choose between two guys but chooses herself.
💋
Cassie really grows into her adulthood, and into her sexuality without dismal consequences. A regular teen life and a fun little 90‘s adventure at the mall.
💋
And it is wonderful to read a book about female friendship where the fight isn‘t so over the top to be unbelievable. But it‘s pretty funny. I really enjoyed this book.
The Mall is a retro dream. It‘s location is just one layer of its indulgence. A teen girl comes of age amidst the food court and Sam Goody. I was chuckling at the 90s references, as well as the nods to fashion and mall culture. It‘s hard to believe this world existed 30 years ago. It reminded me of my own teen years, also of the books I used to devour. This wasn‘t classic lit, but it is a must read for women who will always be 90s teens at heart.
There‘s a certain kind of excitement that comes with a retro related read. Taking it back to the 90s for this one!
Did you work or hang out at the Mall when you were a teen? The mall was THE place to eat with your friends, & scope out the cute guys. The Mall by Megan McCafferty is that kind of book. A book review is up on my blog: https://bookingitwithsandi.wordpress.com/2020/08/04/the-mall/
Thanks Netgalley & St. Martin‘s Press for the opportunity to read The Mall in lieu of my honest review.
Tell me your favorite mall experiences in the comments. Enjoy 😉
So this book comes out this week. Remember her Jessica Darling books? The Mall is set in a 1990s Mall, and it‘s all the good and fun things. I have reviewed it at my blog, #trishtalkstexts https://trishtalkstexts.wordpress.com/2020/07/26/review-the-mall-by-megan-mccaff... I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks #Netgalley and Wednesday Books.
I had so much fun reading this ‘90s nostalgia novel! It‘s more or less a YA novel, except for the time period- Cassie missed out on the last six weeks of senior year, thanks to mono. Recovered, she starts her summer ready to work with her longtime boyfriend at the cookie shop in the mall- only to have all her plans go awry. It‘s a super-fun read with friendship, romance, drama & even a treasure hunt! I laughed out loud, too!! #NetGalley
I liked the little mystery and the idea of Cassie finding her true self. But rather than a true 90‘s experience it felt like a lot of name dropping to drive home the point of it taking place in the 90‘s. It wasn‘t quite the trip down memory lane that I wanted.
A mall setting in the 90‘s with a treasure hunt involving Cabbage Patch Kids-sign me up stat! This was a coming of age story. Cassie‘s life takes several major detours over the course of one summer. She must figure out what is most important and at what cost. This was a fun read. However, I feel like something was missing that I just can‘t put my finger on. But if you are looking for a dose of nostalgia this is a totally awesome book! #netgalley
1. Currently reading the tagged ARC. It is set in the 90‘s at a mall with a Cabbage Patch themed treasure hunt. I also started Darling Rose Gold on audio today.
2. My husband made homemade pupusas with curtido.
3 Cleaning, organizing, and still a bit of unpacking.
4. Be a rainbow in someone else‘s cloud.

Thanks for the tag @Meaw_catlady 😘
This was a fun ride back in time to my teens when there was nothing more fun than going to the mall- eating in the food court, trying to meet cute guys, shopping at Benetton and spraying every fragrance they had at Bath & Bodyworks. Those years could only have been better had I gone on adventures like those of Cassandra. A counterfeit Cabbage Patch Doll scavenger hunt?⬇️
Talk about taking me back to my teenage years and all the time I spent in the mall!!
Perks of this book: Early 90s mall fun! A mystery! Revenge plot!
But... honestly the main character didn‘t really engage me much. It was a great break from the serious reading I‘ve been doing lately and it will make a nice summer read when it comes out in June, but I can‘t say this one will stick with me.
Thanks to #netgalley for the #ARC!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I got an e-ARC of this from #NetGalley and I so loved it! It doesn‘t come out until next summer, but y‘all should keep an eye out! #ImpulseRead #WinterGames #JingleBallers
Cassie has her summer all figured out she & her BF Troy work at the Mall before they head off to college in N.Y. After starting her job late after mono she shows up to work & finds out the hard way that life doesn‘t always end up as planned.
I really loved the characters! My inner teenage self had great memories of my own friends & myself within them.
A fun & hilarious read with hella good 90's vibes!
Keep a look out for this one in 2020. 👀📖
