My third D Hugh‘s and I‘m loving her. A real understanding of people, great characters ,nuanced, set on their course in life. Intelligent, street wise, she‘s a natural psychologist/ philosopher.
This story is set on a train ride across America, the landscape outside mirroring at times the minds of the characters. A young actress fears her director will kill her. I found the writing powerful, about life and the human condition.

kspenmoll Stacked! Like your comparing her to a philosopher! 4mo

Not my favourite Hughes novel, but it has a good suspenseful atmosphere, and I do love a mystery set on a train.

#netgalley rerelease of classic. Psychological drama about woman who expects to be murdered. The story has some clever aspects and a good ending, but certain elements made it a challenge for me. I had trouble keeping track of all the characters, which wasn't helped by the deliberate use of pronouns instead of names at the beginning of each new scene, and a female character named Mike and male character named Viv added to the pronoun confusion.

ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Wow - that does sound confusing 🤦‍♀️ 5y
Tamra That is frustrating when I can‘t keep characters straight. 5y
