Book 9 for #FreakyFriday @zeljka -
This wasn't my favorite read thus far (2.5 stars?), BUT I think it's because I am currently in the middle of another book about India (hugely deep--about a thousand pages--in which the characters area ALSO involved in a clinic and in the mob scene there) and I think I'm suffering from the comparison to this more concise book. I think others might enjoy this though, the conceit of Animal talking on tapes is great!

Viji What‘s the big book you‘re reading? 7y
bookandcat @Viji it's GLORIOUS so far, quite the #chunkster. I saw a rec for it in Bookmarks magazine. It's called 7y
Viji I‘m pretty sure I have that one on my shelf. Sounds like I need to make time for it! 7y

ReadingRover @CouronneDhiver I do wildlife rehab and he was one of the rehab animals. When I tried to release him he stuck around my house for 8 months until winter. I felt bad and brought him in. Then when I tried to put him back out in the spring he threw a fit!!! He went right back in the house!!! But you‘re allowed to keep pigeons. Most people just have them in coops not houses. He‘s a white homing pigeon. His name is Snowflake ❄️ 7y
ReadingRover @JoScho it‘s definitely a zoo!!! 7y
ReadingRover @DGRachel I love Chet the Jet!!! 7y
DGRachel Do you ever find yourself yelling at Chet to pay attention because he nods off right when Bernie is about to learn something important to the case? Or is that just me? 🤣🤣 7y
ReadingRover @DGRachel omg all the time!!! The two of them are always going in different directions. It‘s like they‘re the two stooges. Then by chance they just happen to solve the case!!! 7y

Pickpick

Inspired by the 1984 Bhopal chemical factory explosion that killed thousands and left countless others with serious medical illnesses. It follows “Animal,” a young man with a deformed spine. It begins, "I used to be human once. So I‘m told. I don‘t remember it myself, but the people who knew me when I was small say I walked on two feet just like a human being.” What follows is Animal‘s journey to regain his humanity. #toxic #AugustGrrl
