Great story of a woman who belongs to an exclusive group that is being hunted. She gives up her memory to protect something yet ends up looking for what she forgot. Who can she trust? The middle of the book dragged a little but otherwise a good book.

One of my holds came in from the library. I also got Saga Vol. 4. Since my current read doesn't seem to be holding my attention, going to start this one now. It was a busy weekend, and I got absolutely no reading done. Hopefully I have better luck with this one. #currentlyreading

PandaPanda I loved this! I just got the sequel from th library! 7y

Hot off the press and releasing tomorrow! The paperback version of Tosca Lee's THE PROGENY. Twenty one year old Emily Porter has just started over in small-town Maine. Her existence is simply but quiet- until a stranger tells her she's a direct descendant of the infamous "Blood Countess" Elizabeth Bathory. That her real name is Audra and she has the ability to influence the minds of others..... available tomorrow!

I've been in a strange reading mood lately, I keep picking up books and losing interest a few chapters in. I started this last night & just finished it, but I don't quite know whether I liked it or not. The premise of the story is definitely unique & the story is compelling, but it just kinda fell flat. And the ending is very unsatisfying, I hope there's a second book because there's a lot of loose ends that need tying up.

AStoriedSoul Progeny is part of a duology I think. I know there is a second book due out soon. I couldn't put this down. Can't wait! 8y

Tonight's #bookhaul Hey, if the hubby didn't want me overdosing on new books, he shouldn't have left me alone with an internet connection & money in my account, should he?🤑 I'm justifying it by saying 3 of these books are book club reads, The Wonder is Feb, Moonglow is March & The Handmaids Tale is April. Giant Days & Lumberjanes I had to get because I've got Vol1 so I need the rest, right? And The Progeny is a #blameitonlitsy or @Liberty really.

It will surprise no one to learn I know a lot about Elizabeth Bathory. Starting this book this afternoon! 🖤☠📖

(Also, I made this image, which I realize now makes no sense unless you know she was immured.)

callunakeep OMG!! I also have an obsession with her!! And I have loved there Tosca Lee books I have read! This is going straight to the top of the TBR!! @DiruVamp 8y
Marchpane I have no idea how much of the Bathory legend to believe but she sure is fascinating. 8y
balletbookworm I am completely unsurprised that you are reading this. Elizabeth Bathory is fascinating 8y

Liberty @balletbookworm I didn't know it existed until I received the sequel the other day! 8y
books_cats_art Is she the one who allegedly bathed in blood to keep young? 8y
Literary_Siren Yep the blood of virgins. 8y
Heatheringheights Awesome! I recently found out about her from The Myths and Legends Podcast. Episode 50 is about Dracula, and while it mostly talks about Vlad the Impaler as the historical basis for Dracula, it also discusses the actual crimes and folklore surrounding the Blood Countess. So creepy. 😱 8y
Ubookquitous I take it you read Linda Lafferty's take on it, ? 8y

kristenmcquinn Elizabeth Bathory is sooo creepy cool. 8y
Mcclujdd I got pretty excited about immured being a word... It makes me think of Cask of Amontillado, and scares me a little. (edited) 8y

The Progeny‘s unique backdrop has you instantly entranced. Who is this girl? Why did she go to such lengths to wipe her memory, and who can she trust to be telling her the truth? I can't even with this. An interesting concept poorly executed makes for a hard-to-swallow (and follow!) plot line with characters I cared nothing about.
