If Books Could Kill: A Bibliophile Mystery | Kate Carlisle
13 posts | 15 read | 9 to read
Murder is easy-on paper. Book restoration expert Brooklyn Wainwright is attending the world- renowned Book Fair when her ex Kyle shows up with a bombshell. He has an original copy of a scandalous text that could change history-and humiliate the beloved British monarchy. When Kyle turns up dead, the police are convinced Brooklyn's the culprit. But with an entire convention of suspects, Brooklyn's conducting her own investigation to find out if the motive for murder was a 200-year-old secret-or something much more personal.

Catch-up post #2: I really enjoyed this one! The setting was great. The MC was maybe a little less damsel-in-distress. Definitely didn‘t figure out whodunit before the end. 👍🏻

I'm still interested in the series but this book wasn't as engaging as the first. There was a lot of unnecessary details that I could have done without.

Millesent Keep going, it really is a great cozy mystery series. And she also has a new series, the fixer-upper mysteries. The Hallmark channel picked those up for a series. 5y

🌟🌟🌟
Book two finished for #24B4Monday. I enjoyed the setting (a book festival in Edinburgh) for this one more than the story. It wasn't bad, but it also would have been easy to set down and forget. I like Carlisle's Fixer Upper books more.

Took me three tries reading that sentence before I read it as minitour and not minotaur.

I need reading glasses. Or therapy.

Leftcoastzen You just have a readers imagination 😂❤️ 6y
That-Bookish-Hiker I read it as Minotaur too and didn‘t notice it until I read your caption 😆 6y
PatienceFortitude I read it as Minotaur too 6y

KathyWheeler I kept thinking, “Where did they get a Minotaur?” before I realized that wasn‘t what was being talked about. 😄 6y
rabbitprincess Ahaha me too! 6y
Eggbeater I read it as minotaur too and it made me want one. 6y
BookwormM I did the same 🤣🤣🤣 6y
Clare-Dragonfly Me too. I think “mini-tour” should probably have a hyphen 😂 6y
Aimeesue Yep. It should be mini-tour. Bad editor! 6y

The #PopJarGame pick says this is my next book for the #24B4Monday readathon. I'm still reading Becoming intermittently as well. Just over 4 hours in.

A Bibliophile Mystery series...a well written cozy mystery series that's all about books and book Lovers! With each book set in a different location, we get a chance to travel 😊. I'm about three books into this series and I'm starting to see some interesting character development including Brooklyn's quirky parents 😁

JoScho Those eyes! ❤️❤️❤️ 6y
Millesent Yes, Kate sure has a way with creating characters. Have you read her fixer-upper series? Hallmark Channel picked them up for a series 5y
