This was a Book Club choice about a woman in the #wildwildwest who disguised herself as a man and worked as a stage coach driver. Based on a true story. #heatofjuly
I really was fascinated by the true story parts of this book, what disappointed me was the patchy fictional sections, trying to add romance and drama to the story. It just felt choppy and disjointed. Charley Parkhurst‘s story is fascinating though, definitely read the additional material at the end!

Currently half way through “The Whip” I have mixed feelings so far. Reading for my RL book club and also for
#readharder this is my Western!
Charlotte(Charley)Parkhurst led a life filled with tragedy. Yet, she was able to have a successful career as a stage coach driver, (known as a whip) by disguising herself as a man. Ironically, this ruse allowed Charley to be the first woman to vote in the US. It is a historical fiction story that attempts to explain the whys of her choice.
It's the #finalcountdown ! Two Book Club meetings scheduled early this week. I finished Wednesday's book yesterday. Now, I need to finish this one for Tuesday! #rocktober
Just picked up my next Book Club read at the Library. Looks interesting!
#reccomendsday ... I am a fan of historical fiction but what makes this book special is that it is inspired by the true story of charley parkhurst, one of the best stagecoach drivers for Wells Fargo! Absolutely loved this book!
A woman who passes as a man in the Old West is the tip of the iceberg in this fictional tale of a real person.
Listening to this makes me feel like I'm in the old West.
