Part history of the early days of surfing, part graphic memoir about the love of the author‘s life, and the dawning realization that grief and the ocean share commonalities.

I‘ll be finishing I Capture the Castle today, so I picked up my library holds this morning. Pigs in Heaven is my #AuthoraMonth read (I read The Beans Trees in Oct, so figured now‘s a good time to read the sequel). Bloomability is a #roll100 read, the rest are #bookspinbingo squares. Working those reading challenges 💪 #librarystack
My first book of 2020! A touching and emotional graphic novel about the ocean and love and loss.
I've read a lot of graphic memoirs pertaining to grief and loss, and this one was decent but I felt like it was missing something. It didn't feel as deep, and spent more time on the history of surfing rather than working on connecting with the reader- and the connection to the history of surfing felt kind of non-existent and out of place.
