Well I‘m far away from my bookshelves so here‘s a pic of a book I bought from an indie thrift online seller. It was in terrible condition. Work typically sucks up my life so I shop only online for everything except groceries. Mostly I‘m an elibrary borrower. 🤷‍♀️

Thank you @Soubhiville for the #authoramonth challenge. Although, I only managed to read two of her books, I came away with an increased appreciation of not only her talent, but of her as a person. Thanks to Litsy, I watched the Netflix documentary about Amy Tan which is well done . #amytan

I really enjoyed this children‘s story about a little girl learning how to make her wishes come true herself. #AuthorAMonth #BookspinBingo

On a rainy day, a grandmother tells her three granddaughters a story about herself when she was a child in China…how on a beautiful mid autumn festival day, she saw the ‘Moon Lady‘. An endearing story which I found out was adapted from The Joy Luck Club (which I haven‘t read). A pity I did not read the physical copy and missed out on the illustrations but the background music on play during the author‘s narration was lovely.

What I loved most about this book was the vibrant, colorful images that bring the story to life. I also love when an author of adult books writes a children‘s book. A Chinese grandmother entertains her grandchildren with a story of her childhood. The reader experiences a glimpse of Chinese culture and the celebration of the Moon Lady.

I love Amy Tan. Have I said that a few times already this month? Listening to Amy Tan read a kids story is its own unique pleasure.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yes, I loved Sagwa that way this month too. 3y
vlwelser @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yes! I listened to that one also. I was quite happy that they had these at the library. I had to wait on hold for this one. 3y

On a rainy afternoon, three sisters wish for the rain to stop, wish they could play in the puddles, wish for something, anything, to do. So Ying-Ying, their grandmother, tells them a tale from long ago. Bright beautiful illustrations 💛💙💚❤️

This is definitely more middle-grade — the story gets “real” at parts with animal blood and a child falling overboard. But the imagery & culture breathed into this parable really makes it sparkle. #AuthorAMonth
