Oh my, this book. It‘s a tale of love and neglect and the way our parents hurt us and need us and how trauma settles in our bones. It‘s atmospheric and gorgeously written, flowing back and forth through time and slowly revealing secrets and triumphs and losses. I lost myself in this story, aching with its brilliance. I am dazzled and in awe of Crissy Van Meter. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Read this so quickly and I feel like that's the way to do this one. The jumping timelines could be confusing if I hadn't kept with it within a short amount of time. I loved the connection to the ocean, the remote feeling of the island and how this was intertwined with the MC's emotions throughout. Dreamy, reflective, and ultimately a coming of age tale with struggles along the way. Listened to the #audiobook which was good. 🎧 🐚 🐋

I will admit, the majority of the appeal of this book is the cover. 🙃 it's just so pretty!!
