A fictional account that brought forth the emotions of teenagers who experienced 9/11, the constant remembrance of the day & conflicted feelings when life must go on.
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 I would have liked to hear more 9/11 & less teen relationships but I‘m conflicted because I think that was the point of this book, that though teens appear to go on, they are still impacted & though they are impacted they still must go on, sometimes leading the way.

A favorite #under250pages book. It‘s a YA novel that tackles 9/11 and the week after showing the confusion followed by the outpouring of grief, sympathy, and ultimately love for each other NYCers felt during that time. I cry every time at the end.

"Wouldn't it be wonderful if we really came together, if we really found a common humanity? The hitch is you can't find a common humanity just because you have a common enemy. You have to find a common humanity because you believe that it's true."

"Not the sad part. But the coming together part " ..... "it's not going to last . " #truth this part hurt more than i thought it would, we're so divided now, and it feels like it's just getting worse.

I have no idea why i requested thus but I did. I expect to cry

bookelf221 Now I remember! LGBTQ characters are the reason I requested it. 90 pages in and it's good, first 20 pages or so were hard to read. 7y

I was in preschool during 9/11. It's a delicate subject, but Levithan handles it gracefully. Levithan is amazing and gives us a chilling, heartbreaking novel.
