Still no clue whodunit but characterization of so many so well done- through imagery, dialogue, thoughts, actions.

Everyone still in bed. Love this time. Love this book.
Huss strives to take her psychological healing & feelings of helplessness into her own hands. She had been at the mercy of the drug dealers, had been knocked unconscious, disarmed, degraded & pissed on.When she caught a hand grenade that was tossed into the window & threw it back outside, she suffered from the explosion but saved not only her own life, but her unconscious partner‘s life as well.

Walked over a mile while waiting for my husband‘s day surgery to end. Brought a picnic-it was 69 degrees! Then lounged in the lobby with tagged book. Perfect wait! Cannot be with him due to Covid restrictions so spending my time this way was the next best thing. Got the call that all is well. He is in recovery. 😀💚
Reaction of Superintendent Sven Andersson when told by his Police Commissioner he would “appreciate“ regular updates on this case, the murder of a nationally know wealthy financier, when the norm is one partial & one final report on an investigation. #upperclassprivledge

Time to bundle up again- going down to 30 degrees tonight. Just waiting for Em-cat & Poe to find me & snuggle in.#fridaynight #workisdone
Perfectly done police procedural that encompasses all the detailed meetings and daily slog to find the culprits. Hits all the social problem checklists (still relevant now) and happily shows strong and loving family for Huss. Didn‘t connect somehow: felt it would make a great tv series as actors would bring that plus alpha emotional weight and je ne sais quoi to it. I‘m sure other readers will like it. And great cover photo!
I really enjoyed this one ... although it seemed quite long in the end. Or maybe I just didn‘t have a good piece of time to give to it. I will definitely read the next in the series. I liked the MC a lot.
#AbbainAugust #MyLoveMyLife “ You will live. You will have a better life. “ ❤️
OMG this has been the slowest reading week in a long time. ! Visitors , granddaughter, extra work ... all good. But also so glad to be back to the book & the relaxation... & the hope of actually finishing this one & starting a new book tomorrow ..... book problems 😉📖
#AbbainAugust #knowingmeknowingyou getting to know you Irene Huss & knowing me ... I think this Detective series set in Sweden is my new comfort read .. A-ha ! And what else can I do but download the next book in the series - Night Rounds ... 👍🏻 delighted with this new series! ❤️
Reading is slow ... lots of family around ❤️.
But , when I can steal a moment , Detective Inspector Huss has my full attention 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Next up ...
The most procedural of police procedurals, this book is slow-paced, with lots of meetings and paperwork. It built up speed as the team got closer to finding the culprit. I liked how Huss is happily married with children and how Tursten doesn‘t shy away from showing how the female detectives are treated by some of their co-workers.
#LitsyAtoZ Letter I is a Swedish police procedural. I'd wanted to read this as i had liked the look of the cover and it was a pretty well plotted story with some good characters including a strong female lead with elements of sexism in the department. A few bits at the end that had me a bit frustrated but not enough to spoil the enjoyment and look forward to the next.
I enjoyed this swedish police procedural. The main character is a judo champion detective inspector married to a chef with twin teenage daughters- pretty well adjusted. The secondary characters are well drawn and the murder(s) surrounding a prominent family are just interesting enough to push the story but what propells this for me are the police officers and their interactions with each other. I will continue with this series.
#ChillingWithMyFurBuddy #Wine&Whiskeynight I love a good Swedish mystery and, browsing the library stacks for the new Scott Turow (no luck) saw this- how could I resist the cover blurb "Sweden's Prime Suspect"!!!
Had this for, oh, a decade probably. Finally gonna read it. 😂
Oh my goodness, I loved this book! So much more going on than the mystery - social issues, family relationships, and more. And I really liked Irene and his smart and strong she is. I'm glad I started this series at the beginning and can't wait to read more.
Finished Georges Simenon's first Inspector Maigret mystery, Pietr the Latvian, today. Quick to read. Felt like a fast-paced black and white movie. Will try more Simenon sometime. Will try to get back to the Swedish mystery novels I was enjoying earlier this year with this one.
