A few of them have inscriptions - one from 1831 (but its in French and pretty faint).

My husband‘s parents just dropped off some family heirlooms for us to look after, including some antique miniature books. They‘re so sweet! (Some title pages to follow)
It‘s not one of Dickens‘s best, but this is a simple and saccharine tale for the holidays.
Watched the old animated movie version of this from the 60s. We didn‘t realize it was written by Dickens at the time, so of course it was depressing and completely inappropriate for my girlfriend‘s 4 year old daughter. Fortunately, I think the darker moments went over her head!😣🤗 6points #teamreadnosedreindeer

Still reading and loving Dickens. I had to read this last Christmas story in his trilogy. I feel Dickens was so ahead of his time. Like this asinine quote, from a most disagreeable character, about women. I anticipate that in not too short of time, Dickens will make sure this nasty person gets his comeuppance.
Well I guess I expected something a little more Christmas-y from this Christmas classic! This was an Audible freebie from 2013 that I only just listened to, so while I appreciate lightening my digital TBR, I guess I had higher hopes for this novella. The story is sweet enough and well-performed and it‘s my #PublicDomain for #Booked2019! #WinterGames #ReadNosedReindeer 26pts #AudioColoring
I got through a little over half of this collection while wrapping/erranding. The Flying Stars; Markheim ; The Goblins & the Gravedigger; Christmas at Sea; The Life of our Lord; Reginald on Christmas Presents; Christmas Trees; The Little Match Girl; Luke 2:7-14; 'Twas the Night Before Christmas; and A Cricket on the Hearth.

Another foray into Dickens! I must admit that I'm feeling rather proud of myself. The more I read, the easier his writing gets to understand.
I really enjoyed this novella. It's quite different to the other works of his I've read so far. Its focus is on the home and the family, rather than social issues for which Dickens is so famous. There's still some good me... #classicreads

And it‘s sure to bring us good fortune, John! It has always done so. To have a Cricket on the Hearth is the luckiest thing in all the world”!
This is not technically a Christmas story, but it has the perfect feel for this time of year. 🎄
Does anyone write happy endings as well as Dickens? This is no exception. Although this doesn‘t actually take place during Christmas season, it‘s still considered a Christmas stories. It starts off a little slow and draws several similarities to A Christmas Carol, especially with Caleb Plummet and his blind daughter who are happy despite their circumstances. And you can‘t help but compare Tackleton to Scrooge. Great holiday read!

I listened to this one a while back on #audiobook but wasn't a fan. I try to work in some Charles Dickens here and there as it reminds me of my grandmother, but this wasn't Dickens' best.

A freebie from Audible a few years ago that I just got around to listening to. Audiobooks were a good experiment, but I tend more toward print. Case in point: Cute story, though I think I missed some details. Jim Dale's voice was the best part.
