Origin In Death
Origin In Death: 21 | J. D. Robb

The sickness came into the center of her belly and lay there like a tumor. They've been cloning girls. Not just messing with DNA. But creating them. Selling them. The world famous cosmetic surgeon, Dr Wilfred Icove, has been found dead - a cold, brutal scalpel to the heart. He is a man with nothing to hide, but when Lieutenant Eve Dallas exposes Dr Icove's patient records, a distressing image appears. Eve's trail leads to an exclusive boarding school for girls. A strange, isolated place where everything seems perfect. A little too perfect. And when the main benefactor turns out to be a genius geneticist, Eve readies an attack. With the girls nearing perfection and the men nearing insanity, Eve suspects something truly horrifying is happening . . .

As we reach the 21st book in the series - it shows no signs of flagging. In this one the author tackles the subject of gene manipulation, longevity, & cloning. It's a fascinating subject & one that is explained in just enough detail that it didn't detract from the overall story line. There were also some lighter moments of banter between Dallas & Peabody, & involving Roarke's Irish extended family coming over to visit for Thanksgiving. 4🌟

⭐⭐⭐⭐
After 20 books in a series, you sort of expect it to get a bit stale, but I really enjoyed this one, book 21 in the Eve Dallas series. A plot that involves humans being engineered, it was fast paced and hard to put down. My only complaint is that I thought there'd be a Thanksgiving scene that never came. Still, a great installment in the series.

Book 7 finished for #AwesomeAugust

This book started an obsession with this series. It didn‘t help that I had unknowingly picked the twenty something book of the series. 40+ books later it still has me hooked.

I've been starting down the slippery slope of a reading slump but this was the perfect way to turn it around! I adore this series as it never fails to suck me in. Add to that the questionable moral and ethical questions that it brought up in an all too terrifying but possible scenario....wow! A great addition to a favorite series of mine!
