Always wanted to learn more about Elvis. This seems like a good book to do that with.

I'm not an Elvis fan, but my late dad was and I bought him these biographies as gifts, "Careless Love" having my inscription for his 60th birthday in 2000.
I want to read these, to get to know both Elvis and, perhaps, my dad, a little better, though I don't think I'm quite ready to do that yet.
Ones to add to the tbr pile then, but I'm going to be more aware than usual that they're waiting there for me.
❤️?❤️
Just beginning this 2 volume biography
After recent reads about various black, queer, African, female protagonists it may seem odd that my next book veers hard south & white but I have long coveted Peter Guralnick‘s definitive two-volume treatment of Elvis and this is a 500pp beast that needs taming sooner rather than later. Wish me luck, I‘m goin‘ in 🦸🏼
Decided to play in the #riotgrams fun. My mostly nonfiction #shelfie. These are also two of the tidiest shelves. 😉
A very detailed and thoroughly researched account of Elvis Presley's humble beginnings and rise to fame. Very fascinating, and I eagerly await the start of the 2nd volume of his biography
Happy #Elvis Day! I first heard his music when I was 7 years old, and I was never the same. He changed my life forever. So thankful for his beautiful, brilliant music. ❤️🎶 #RememberingTheKing
This is considered one of the best books about Elvis ever written. It's 4.5 stars on #Goodreads, with over 4K ratings! Can't believe it's on my shelf and I haven't read it yet. I have a mission!
Lots of stuff in history happened today! We begin in 1956, when Elvis scandalously performed "Hound Dog" on the Milton Berle show. My family took a trip to Memphis in 1996, and it spurred my interest in early rock music. Peter Guralnick and Greil Marcus are among my writing heroes. Check these out!
