Celebrity In Death
Celebrity In Death: 34 | J. D. Robb
'We've got a corpse that looks like one of the investigators, a houseful of Hollywood and a media machine that's going to eat it like gooey chocolate.' Lieutenant Eve Dallas is panicking - and she's not at a crime scene. Forced to attend a celeb-packed party for a new movie based on her most famous case, she is surrounded by actors who look like everyone in her life. Then brutal reality crashes through the sparkly facade. There's been a murder. The obnoxious actress playing Eve's partner, Peabody, has been found face down in the rooftop pool. It's hard to find anyone who didn't have a motive for killing her, but Eve must fight to keep a clear head and stop a calculated killer. 'Robb gives us another great thriller' Linda Fairstein

I never imagined i would read such a long series, but I just finished book #34 and have the next in my queue. I love the story arcs of Eve, Roarke, Peabody, etc. I did not find the murder mystery as interesting as previous books, but my dislike of ‘celebrity‘ may have jaded my read. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Plus—I was happy to learn Eve may finally have found a hiding place for her sweets that the Candy Thief is unable to find!

Viji I love these books! I‘ve listened to them all on audio, not sure if I would have stuck with them in print. The characters are definitely the draw for me, not the plot. 3y
Liatrek Love this series! I‘m on book 44 in the series and I still haven‘t read a bad one yet. 3y
Bluebird @Viji @Liatrek it‘s nice to read a long series without any duds! 😀 i love the audiobooks. I think i read all but one via audio. Susan Ericksen does a superb job narrating the series 3y

Beyond Excellent! I laughed so much during this book. It had a nice Agatha Christie vibe. So many great moments and Dallas and Peabody banter was next level hilarious. This series is straight up comfort reading❤️

JoyBlue Do I need to read the series in order? 4y
Liatrek @JoyBlue I would recommend reading them order. They do reference events from other books and it‘s really worth it to see all the characters grow😊 4y
JoyBlue @Liatrek Thanks! 4y
PaperbackReader Love the Peabody and Dallas convos in these books. True that these are great escape reading. Have read all of them and look forward to new ones 4y

Having 2 LT Dallas and 2 Det Peabody was fun in Celebrity in Death as Nadine's book was made into a movie. Needless to say the actor of Roarke did not come up to the mark.

I should be reading my library books but instead I am re-reading a JD Robb. No wonder I never finish my library books in the first check out :)

Jinjer Today My 90-yo mom asked me to "fix the kindle" so she can start re-reading all the In Death's from the beginning. 7y
melissanorr That is awesome, @Jinjer ! 7y

I was afraid that listening to a book from my favorite series as an audiobook and listening to my favorite characters' voices would be weird and even might ruin it for me.
I was so wrong!! The narrator does Eve's voice perfectly! Roarke and Peabody sounded a bit weird comparing to their voices in my head but it didn't matter much.
So whether in reading or listening, this series still rocks 😍😍

mabell That is always my concern! Certain series are perfect on audio - Poirot, Miss Marple, Bertie and Jeeves. But some series I've read so long the characters are real, and the audio may spoil for it me. An example being, Meg and her crazy family - 8y
