So I recently got a collection of Roald Dahl‘s works and wanted to start making my way through them. This one was certainly written with no PC in mind. Maybe the times, but it‘s a story of a man who gets his neighbor to fall in love with him by impressing her with changing the weight of her pet turtle. As an adult, too much thought and the book is distrubing, but may be okay for kids for a silly story.

panAfter the past Dahl books that I‘ve enjoyed very much, I‘m so disappointed with this! In the beginning I thought it‘s a sweet love story, but then hey, what messages/morals are being delivered here to the children? Mr Hoppy may be clever with his plans but I don‘t like how he duped Mrs Silver. He may be a shy man in love but there‘s no forgiveness for his deceit and lies. And poor Alfie, Mrs Silver‘s tortoise. #unpopularopinion

The festival is Libr@ria, in Venaria Reale, Italy. The local library put its old books destined to be thrown away up for "adoption".
A little child rummaged through the old books, excited and enchanted. She found a copy of Roald Dahl's Esio Trot and she sat right there on the ground reading it. Her copy of Matilda had been read so often that it was completely falling apart.
