This morning‘s Storytime will be my first since the election news. My goal is to create a soft space for families to land. I‘m introducing a new call & response song, which has been stuck on a loop in my head. It‘s been strangely soothing. I hope the kids like it!

If you have littles at home, I highly recommend trying this one out. It‘s called “Tall Trees.”

This book could be used during any point of a school year however, surrounding Earth day this book could help introduce a new unit.

In Janice May Udry‘s book “A Tree is Nice” multiple mediums are used to help share the useful ways trees help our world. Trees help us to breathe, create forests, and provide beauty as well. This book uses a gorgeous delivery to show children just how important and “nice” a tree really is.

“Trees make the woods. They make everything beautiful. Even if you have just one tree, it is nice too.”

I would use this for a science lesson about what trees do for us and why we need to keep them safe. I would use this book for K-3.

Picture book, 1956. Beautiful sceneries in various mediums. Uses pencil, colored pencil, and crayon. It shares the ways trees help our world such as creating oxygen and making the forests beautiful.

I would implement this book as a science lesson for my students and take them outside to notice the beautiful things in our natural world. I would have my students create a list of things they want to learn more about in their environments.

In this Caldecott award winning book, it illustrates beautiful sceneries in different mediums of art. Some pages uses pencil and others use crayon and colored pencil. It also shares the beautiful ways that trees help our world such as letting us breathe and making the forests beautiful. This can help children think about their own surroundings or world and help fid beauty within that settings.

I think this book would be very appropriate to use for ages preschool up to third grade. The images are beautiful and happy. A good book to use during the warm seasons.

A Tree Is Nice by Janice May Udry, 1956. Caldecott Award Winning Book. This book describes all of the wonderful ways that trees can be used and the things trees are able to do. This book uses positive language and images to describe trees and the ways people and animals use them. This was a very positive and happy book that I would read to children of all ages.

I am unsure if every copy of this book is like this, but I liked how the book is tall like the trees they described.

This book is all about trees and their importance. This would be a good book to read around Earth Day, or if we are focusing on lessons about the Earth, trees, plants, etc.

A Tree is Nice by Janice May Udry is a picture book with illustrations by Marc Simont. This book is a Caldecott Medal winner. It is a good book with interesting illustrations. It doesn‘t focus on any social issues and would be a good extension book for outdoor or autumn based activities.

A Tree is Nice uses an interesting illustration style. Every other page set is black and white. This contrast of color versus black and white is a bit confusing because it never really says why they do it. The book gives lots of ideas of how a tree can be used and would be a good extension for an outdoor activity.

“A tree is nice because it has a trunk and limbs. We can climb the tree and see over all the yards. We can sit on a limb and think about things. Or play pirate ship up in the tree.”

A Tree Is Nice was written by Janice May Udry with pictures by Marc Simont. It was published in 1956. The book is based on good descriptions of what trees do, how you can plant them and what they look like. It teaches the kids easy lessons.

This book would be great for young elementary. This book has colorful pictures for the students to look at. The colors in a book can interest different students. The story is a great lighthearted story for young elementary kids to hear.

This is a Caldecott winning book. It has great drawings of the woods. It‘s a good book to encourage kids to go play outside.

A Caldecott award winning book(pub.1956). Book gives great description of trees. Not only shows children that it's important to have tree's around for fun, but that we need tree's to live.
I think that the illustrations are very simple. The color usage is beautiful as well. “A tree is nice because it makes shade.“ Although there are other reasons as to why one should like a tree, this book opens up the conversation to children about saving trees.

i liked how some illustrations were black and white, while others were were color.

Pretty good. Informational book on trees students would enjoy.

I enjoyed this book but probably would not be a top pick for me. it is cute but doest have match of a storyline

this book features watercolors and and enduring message about the grandeur and necessity of trees this award winning prompts little ones and grow ups to get outside and go climb a tree

#HopIntoSpring Day 26: This gorgeous photo of majestic #Trees was taken by my husband when we took a Napa Valley Wine Tour back in 2009. It was the first time that we have seen autumn-coloured trees and we were awe-struck. Tagged book is lovely and a good alternative to the hackneyed and oft-utilized The Giving Tree.

The final stack of what I read during the #readathon! A total of 1945 pages (plus 3 hours of a Miss Marple on audio, not pictured). So much fun! @DeweysReadathon

An Illinois Reads 2016 title. A very nice and classic book about what it's like to have your very own tree.
