Ophelia‘s father takes a job curating a major sword exhibit for a museum located in a faraway, snowy city. Ophelia wanders around the vast museum and discovers an imprisoned boy with no name, a prisoner of the Snow Queen. #marvelous #maycharacters @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Pickpick

This book was a little better than average so I'll consider it a pick. Ophelia and her sister Alice go with their dad to his new project at a museum. While there, Ophelia meets The Marvelous Boy, who is locked up in a small room, wearing fancy clothes from the early 1700s. He needs her help to escape the room, find his sword, and defeat the evil Snow Queen. It is fun but it drags a bit in the middle. #MiddleGradeMarch @megnews @sblbooks

megnews Too bad it drags. The plot sounds great! 5y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @megnews As an adult, the little girl making her way through the museum with little interaction with exhibits and so many different rooms was a bummer but not a total loss. 5y

Trying to read at least one more book off my TBR for #MiddleGradeMarch and selected this one. Yay for a different sort of #bookmap.

Mehso-so

A young friend of mine loves this book, so I read it to fulfill a SRP challenge (a book your friend loves), but I did not love it. Even for a MG, the MC is dense and unobservant, the story unfolds strangely, there are lots of loose story threads...it just felt very disappointing. Good premise, poorly executed.

I think I would have loved this book if I'd read it when I was the target age group, but it didn't do as much for me as an adult. I do think it's odd that I can devour YA and adult books but tend to bounce off MG.

I'm enjoying this book very much except for EVERY OTHER PAGE WHEN I'M REMINDED THAT OPHELIA STILL HASN'T FIGURED OUT THAT MISS KAMINSKI IS THE SNOW QUEEN.
