"A priceless book, hidden in a corpse." "A family secret, handed down through generations." "And a woman with no memory of her past." #1 bestselling author Brad Meltzer returns with THE HOUSE OF SECRETS When Hazel Nash was six years old, her father taught her: mysteries need to be solved. He should know. Hazel's father is Jack Nash, the host of America's favorite conspiracy TV show, The House of Secrets. Even as a child, she loved hearing her dad's tall tales, especially the one about a leather book belonging to Benedict Arnold that was hidden in a corpse. Now, years later, Hazel wakes up in the hospital and remembers nothing, not even her own name. She's told she's been in a car accident that killed her father and injured her brother. But she can't remember any of it, because of her own traumatic brain injury. Then a man from the FBI shows up, asking questions about her dad-and about his connection to the corpse of a man found with an object stuffed into his chest: a priceless book that belonged to Benedict Arnold. Back at her house, Hazel finds guns that she doesn't remember owning. On her forehead, she sees scars from fights she can't recall. Most important, the more Hazel digs, the less she likes the person she seems to have been. Trying to put together the puzzle pieces of her past and present, Hazel Nash needs to figure out who killed this man-and how the book wound up in his chest. The answer will tell her the truth about her father, what he was really doing for the government-and who Hazel really is. Mysteries need to be solved. Especially the ones about yourself.

I liked it but it isn't one of my favorites by Brad Meltzer. There was a nice twist at the end and the cameo of Beecher White was a nice touch. If you're a fan of Brad Meltzer then I recommend it but if your a casual reader of his work then you may not like it.

This was not a good month for reading. I barely finished Fledgling in time (technically it was this morning that I finished it🙄) and the other two were audiobook. My brain has been in a bad place. Reading hasn't been easy. Thankful for audiobooks. Maybe April will be better.

1. Nope
2. Walking away from a serious car accident without a single injury, even though I wasn't even wearing a seatbelt, at the ripe age of 12. It's a crazy ass story, man.
3. ☑️
4. Hatshepsut, to name just one.
5. 🍀

This was a fast paced, compelling read involving a mystery. I like Brad Meltzer and spy type conspiracy stories so this was right up my alley.

JoeStalksBeck Oh I loved this one!!! Great twist at the end! 8y

Reading on my lunch break!
If I'm not really YA, I'm probably reading a book about a government conspiracy or a spy story. This is a good one so far 😀

#24in48 is over
My personal goal was to hit 12 hours and I surpassed that.
I finished one book I was already reading, read 2 more + 1 novella, and then started on another for a total on 954 pages this weekend 😀

BarbaraTheBibliophage Great reading! 🎉🎉👏🏻👏🏻📚📚 8y

Finished this tonight. The twist at the end is staggering. It's very Dan Brown. I gasped all through this book. It's very thought provoking and urges human curiosity to awaken.

CocoReads I have this on my tbr, let me know what you think. 8y
JoeStalksBeck @CocoReads I'm on chapter 60 and I love it! Lots of strange information and odd conspiracies. There are some wonderful life quotes in here and the narrator for Hazel (the main characters daughter) makes you both gasp and laugh out loud 8y
CocoReads I'll move it up higher on my tbr! 8y

I have read all Brad's thrillers and loved most of them. This was hard to get into, which is unusual for a Brad Meltzer book. I could put it down mid-chapter, again n unusual. It didn't live up to previous efforts.

Does anyone else read Brad Meltzer? I am currently reading House of Secrets. A little sad that I have to wait for another Culper Ring book. Has anyone seen the story that his show on the History Channel helped find the original flag from a 911 picture. Kind of cool.

JoeStalksBeck I saw that! How amazing ! 8y
Well-ReadNeck That's awesome! How's this one? I ❤️ culper ring books but heard mediocre reviews on this. 8y
Booknerd2 Just finished it and didn't care for it. Too bad because I love all his other books. 8y
Bookladylinda I love Brad!!!! Have not read this series yet tho! 8y

Wanna know who killed Kennedy? My first Meltzer. Meh.

TheNextBook I am not a fan of his. I have read more than one book that sounded like it would be promising and it just failed to deliver. 8y

This book was great!! I was a little nervous when I saw it was co-authored, but don't worry this is no James Patterson formula story. Loved the characters & mystery, really hoping their will be a second book as some mysteries where left unsolved.

I am liking the werewolf and the rabbit. Hazel is an interesting character. This is as well-written as you'd expect. I love Beecher more. But I'm in.
