@BookNAround I haven‘t picked which set to go with which Saturday or Sunday, but this was my pre-planning from last weekend (not at all excited, can you tell? 🤣) My boss and I are meeting for lunch to go over my annual performance review and will then be going to PRB (her idea!) and Book Rack is close to me, so I‘ll probably take a drive over there at lunch one day. That Salisbury one, though…😭😭

BookNAround In the past I‘ve started at the one in Salisbury and then driven south hitting the ones on the way back to my house (I‘m in Matthews) for that day. It‘s actually a lovely bookstore but totally get why it would be questionable to make it there! I usually finish at The Book Rack and Park Road Books just because they are the closest and my usuals. 4d

DGRachel @BookNAround They have Sunday hours and I only have 2 Sundays booked according to my chart, so I may make a special trip just for them. ☺️ Rock Hill is super close, so I can probably do my Rock Hill Saturday on the same weekend without being too exhausted from driving. 4d

It‘s Independent Bookstore Day! I left Park Road Books with full arms and a full heart. I love my indie booksellers so much and it‘s been ages since I‘ve been in there. 💖 Lots of cozy fantasy and mythology retelling recommendations today.

I stopped at an indie bookstore in Wilmington on my way home from vacation and no one in the store even acknowledged my presence. So, I stopped at my local indie, Park Road Books, when I got back to Charlotte for a bookseller book hug. I love PRB. #bookhaul #bookhug

There is nothing I love more than a good #bookhaul from an independent bookstore. 😍 East of Houndslow and A Spy in the Struggle are recent MyTBR recommendations, Then the Fish Swallowed Him is a potential pick for #readingasia #iran (I can‘t resist a good title!), and While Justice Sleeps is written by Stacey Abrams and that speaks for itself. 🤩 Oh, and Vinland Saga was my first (and still favorite) manga, so it‘s onto Book Three for me.

It‘s been a while since I just wandered at my indie bookstore. I went to pick up Amanda Gorman‘s poem, which I ordered earlier this week. Naturally, I found a couple other books that insisted on coming home with me. Who am I to say no? (Also, how beautiful is this weather? Not a cloud in the sky!)

#bookhaul My preorders for The Bladebone and Tristan Strong Destroys the World arrived at my local indie, so I picked them up after work today. I also grabbed Untamed by Glennon Doyle because a sorority sister tagged me in Glendon‘s We Can Do Hard Things posts with small ways to leave it all on the field this election cycle, to fight for the soul of this country and its people, and I was inspired to read her book. 💖

My work bonus arrived. Originally, I had planned to put funds aside for April‘s independent bookstore day. However, with events being canceled everywhere, including book signings, while people try to #flattenthecurve on COVID-19, I wanted to support my local indie now. I tried not to go overboard, and sadly there were three or four other books that I forgot. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣 I‘m excited for these to arrive, though.

BarbaraTheBibliophage Fun! I wish I could shop and support them. Had to shutter my business for the rest of March due to COVID-19. Hoping to be back to work in April. (I am well, just joining the effort to #flattenthecurve.) 5y

DGRachel @BarbaraTheBibliophage I‘m so sorry you had to close shop, even temporarily. I know I‘m lucky to be able to support local businesses now. Let‘s be honest, I should probably be saving not spending as I work in an industry that is traditionally slower to feel economic downturns but also much slower to recover, so we‘ll likely get hit with layoffs in a year or two related to financial costs of this. 😢 5y

Apparently, @dsfisher and I have decided to make #booksinabox a #smallbusinesssaturday at #Parkroadbooks a tradition. Last year was the first time I‘d ever bought so many books at one time that I needed a box to carry the purchases home. We may have exceeded last year‘s stack. 😆😆 (actual haul in next post)
