Marie Antoinette, Serial Killer
Marie Antoinette, Serial Killer | Katie Alender
20 posts | 18 read | 27 to read
Heads will roll! Paris, France: a city of fashion, chocolate croissants, and cute boys. Colette Iselin is thrilled be there for the first time, on her spring break class trip. But a series of gruesome murders are taking place around the city, putting everyone on edge. And as she tours the sights, Colette keeps seeing a strange vision: a pale woman in a ball gown and powdered wig, who looks like Marie Antoinette. Colette knows her status-obsessed friends won't believe her, so she seeks out the help of a charming French boy. Together, they discover that the murder victims are all descendants of people who ultimately brought about Marie Antoinette's beheading. The queen's ghost has been awakened, and now she's wreaking her bloodthirsty revenge. And Colette may just be one of those descendants . . . which means she might not make it out of this trip alive. Acclaimed author Katie Alender brings heart-stopping suspense to this story of betrayal, glamour, mystery, history--and one killer queen.

This book has no business being as much fun as it was, and it was good, clean fun (except for the beheadings 🤷🏼‍♀️ Colette Iselin heads to France on a school trip, but before she goes she finds a mysterious medallion😯 The trip is not too bad except she is figuring out who her real friends are, smooching boys, and being stalked my a murderous ghost, sometimes in Marie‘s little village at Versailles (pictured above) this #bookspin deserves 👇🏻

Reagan To be made into a fun movie on the WB starring kids I‘ve never heard of. Two enthusiastic thumbs up! @TheAromaofBooks 3y

I was desperately hoping to finish at least one book this weekend but it‘s hard to find the time sometimes with housework and pets and knitting. But Butcher doesn‘t like to sit outside by himself so problem solved!

Found this at a book sale years ago - lord I miss book sales so much, that‘s a post Covid thing I cannot wait for - and it‘s my #bookspin this month. A little ☕️ and murder 🥰

lazydaizee It will be nice to go to the book sales again. 4y
JamieArc I kind of really liked this one. Don‘t take it too seriously, obviously, but I found it really fun. 4y
Reagan @nuttybooklady that and going to the movies are the things I can‘t wait to get back to! @JamieArc oh good to know! It‘s just been languishing here for so long, I‘m excited to read it. 4y

Even though this story is a bit far-fetched, I found it enjoyable. Colette is on a trip to Paris with some classmates. People are being murdered, beheaded — and she sees the ghost of Marie Antoinette. The queen is taking her rage out on the descendants of those who betrayed her. Pure fluff but very entertaining. 3.5⭐️

LibrarianRyan This has been on my TBR forever. I‘ve just never seen anyone who has read it. Thanks. 5y
JenlovesJT47 @LibrarianRyan I hope you enjoy it! It‘s a fast read. 🤓 5y

I picked this book up at the library on a whim because I‘m headed to France in a few months and want to be transported there now. It‘s not a smartly written YA book, but it is a lot of fun. It definitely gets better at the halfway mark, when the mystery part overpowers the annoying mean girls part. And it did take me to Paris. History, mystery, and Paris = ❤️. “Let them eat cake...and die” goes the blurb on the back of the book 😂😂😂

Found at my local used bookstore, buried in the history/biography section!!! You don‘t even know how long I‘ve been searching for this book!! The owner of the shop at the register laughed when I told him where I found it and said that someone might‘ve put it there to hide it... well sorry, Mr./Ms. Book-hider, it‘s mine now!!! Bwah ha ha!! 🤓😎🤩😍😏🤨

Starting this one again since I noped out of the audiobook after like 5 minutes. Some people need to realize that character voices are not a necessary part of the experience. #marieantoinetteserialkiller #marieantoinette #katiealender #bookstagram #blue #audiobook #chapter1

I started out the #24in48 readathon with this fun thriller. I'm a little more than halfway through and so far it has just the right amount of cheesiness I'd hoped for. As for the 24in48 survey: 1. Reading in AZ, U.S.A, 2. It's my first 24in48 readathon, 3. I heard about this on Litsy, 4. Excited to read Complicit by S. Kuehn, 5. I have 2 cats (Katniss & Cinna) who will be keeping me company during the readathon, 6. I'll be posting here on Litsy!😸

Alicia Yay another fellow AZ resident! Happy reading! 8y

Alright, I think I have my 24in48 TBR pile ready! I know I won't get through all of these books, but I like having options. I'm going with a combination of dark, twisted YA and graphic novels. I'm really excited for this readathon! This is the first time I'm participating.

TheApesOfWrath That beard one is crazy. 8y
Lindy Love that evil Gigantic Beard! ❤️ 8y
readinginthedark I won't get through hardly any of my pile either! But I feel insecure without my back-ups. ☺️ 8y

BekahB @TheApesOfWrath @Lindy @JaimitaPR I've wanted to read this graphic novel for a while. I finally grabbed a copy from Book Outlet. I'm excited to read it! 8y
BekahB @RealLifeReading I'm excited to read Andre the Giant. I love the graphic novels published by First Second! 8y
BekahB @readinginthedark me too! I always need to have choices. Even if I'm reading a great book, sometimes it just doesn't fit my mood so I need to switch it out. 😀 8y
DebinHawaii My stack is bigger than I'll get to for the very same reason--having plenty of different books & options 👍 8y

Wellington and I are sad that this book is finally over!! It was such an amazing book and kept me guessing at every turn! I'm sad it's over and I hope Katie Alender finds some other way to bring Colette into another one of her books.

Not sure how I feel about this book, but I picked it up from my local library and thought I'd give it a try. Fictional history books always interest me so this might be a good book after all.. !
