It‘s probably polite to call this GoldenAge SciFi. In reality, it‘s massively antiquated. Eurocentric men smoke cigarettes & argue aggressively about politics, resources & a pseudo-religion, created to pacify colonies. The 1st female doesn‘t appear until page 183. Planets replace countries & spaceships, aeroplanes to qualify it all as SciFi. Herbert finessed the hell out of these themes 15 years later with Dune. However…I enjoyed it immensely!🚀

so far, for dated science fiction, it‘s not terrible…

Foundation describes a story about the last remaining human knowledge being preserved through an age of barbarism and conflict. Hari Seldon, the protagonist of the story, manages this foundation through his ability to predict the future. He carefully crafts his plan to save humanity after the collapse of the galactic empire. Prepping the Foundation episode

I finished this at my work desk this morning. I enjoyed the book - ish. There were certain scenes that I was really into and I kinda adored Hardin. I don't think I loved this book as much as I had hoped though. The characters weren't very diverse or really developed. The beginning parts with Seldon and the beginning of the Foundation seemed a bit weak. I might still continue with this series though. Completed Roll #24 for #Roll100. @PuddleJumper

Bk4 of November & Bk2 of #NovelNovember #33by33 #readathon & the last of #AnyWayYouReadathon is done! Read as an audiobook on Scribd, I came to this as a new Asimov reader and on the back of the series now on AppleTV so I don‘t know if it‘s the narrator or because it‘s so different from the screen adaptation, but I much preferred that🤭I know, gasp shock horror. Maybe if I‘d read this first it would be different? I‘ll try Asimov again though.👇

I like the premise of the Foundation series, but the premise itself causes this book to be like a book of short stories, which isn‘t my favorite. That being said, I‘ll probably read the next one. 😊

Enjoying the nice weather to get some pre-class reading done for the SCSC book club

Trying to branch into sci-fi more, while I‘m intrigued with the story and where it will go, it wasn‘t as engaging as I wanted it to be, will take a break from the series for awhile and come back once I has finished some of my back log

It was a fascinating storyline that I'm not sure I've encountered in this way before. Spanning multiple generations it sees the various protagonists carefully navigating political instability across an expansive galactic empire as it crumbles and begins to rebuild, and ⬇️

Great scifi about future galactic empire.
