#BiblioMAYnia Day 29: Think of Harry Potter in almost-biblical and cult-like proportions – and you have Tommy Taylor. There are a lot more brilliant asides in the graphic novel, as it does appear that there is a super secret society pulling all the strings, especially after Tom Taylor got #framed for murder in his father‘s villa in Switzerland. My review of this fascinating and brilliant graphic novel: https://wp.me/pDlzr-ggK
Rereading the entire series in collections from beginning to end. While a few stumbles in places, THIS is the book to give to those who want a more adult & in-depth take on fantasy & metafictions after HarryPotter instead on The Magicians.
I‘ve had this in my home library for a while (thanks B2G3F DC sale at the store) but hadn‘t got around to reading it yet. But I needed a book for an SRC task and this fit the bill. And here we are.
It‘s fine. A bit too A.A. Milne-meets-Harry Potter plus horror comic pastiche for my taste. The idea is interesting though. I‘ll probably read the second volume at some point (since I already have it) and then decide whether to seek out the rest.
This was different and intriguing. It has some violence and horror elements, but the story keeps you full of questions and turning the pages. Unfortunately you won't get many answers in Vol. 1
11 volumes in total, The Unwritten comes just after Sandman as my all time favorite comic series. It is a reading journey that I highly recommend and I am curious if any of you #CBBR peeps are down with giving this a go?
If so, lemme know in the comments, as well as how fast (or slow) of a time commitment I should make the schedule. I was thinking 3 weeks a volume but am open to whatever works for everyone.
Thank you so much To Litsy for making me get this book outta of the library. It was so, so, so, so Good I absolutely loved and enjoyed it so much.

Finished The Sandman vol. 1 and it was amazing. Now onto book number two for @DeweysReadathon . Pretzels and a cup of tea for this next round.
Decided to give this graphic novel a try. Interesting so far with some Harry Potter references.
Read these graphic novels years ago and borrowing them all again from the library for our #metareading theme until end of October.
I'm trying to read more comics and magically stumbled upon this series at my library. It's about the son of a man who wrote a Harry Potter-esque series. The man disappeared and now the world of the book and real life are colliding. It's pretty awesome so far. I'm looking forward to Volume 2.
I'm a couple days behind on #Riotgrams so I'm going to do some quick catchups. I LOVE the comics above. I think they're perfect for book lovers. Go read them. #comics
Just read volumes 1-3 in this series and like it very much. It's got a Books-of-Magic and Invisibles kind of feel to it. Better to be OK with a high snark and violence content, tho, or you might mistake it for trite and gratuitous. I am looking forward to the reading the next volumes in the series.
I LOVE The Unwritten by Mike Carey and Peter Gross! A literary boy hero come alive in our world. The magic and power of story and words, and layering in references to many classics. I think it will appeal to book lovers, and fans of Cornelia Funke's Inkheat and JK Rowling's Harry Potter. There was a bit of violence at the wnd that I found hard, but overall I loved it and can't wait to dive into other volumes. Highly recommended!
This volume is the tip of an iceberg. This series is filled with literary references, which I love. There's crazed fans over a book series, questioned identities, writers that seem to have the power to shape the world, and secret societies bent on controlling that power. Stories full of wonder!
I didn't like this as much as I was hoping to. Not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't something this dark or violent. I don't mind dark and violent usually, and I think part of this was wrong book at wrong time. I'll probs try again and continue with this series but won't be rushing to do so.
