I really liked the first part where we were following the story in real time. I lost some interest in the descriptions of what other people thought happened in the following 50 years.

I love history and this story has always intrigued me. This is an in-depth look at the mystery that surrounds the Mary Celeste. Highly recommend this title if you are interested in maritime history.

#MayCharacters #Mysterious

Well, these characters are a bit mysterious, as they have disappeared.

Eggs I love ship 🚢 stories👏🏻👏🏻 3y
CrowCAH @Eggs same here! I doubt anyone will be able to piece the story together. Just like the Virginia colony of Roanoke; those people disappeared too. 3y

In 1872, the Mary Celeste was found with little damage but no crew onboard, starting an enduring mystery and much drama. Ghost Ship details the history of the ship and it‘s crew, the aftermath, the hoaxes, and the best guess about what happened based on available information. It‘s quite the page-turner!

Librariana You always find the most unique titles and seem interested in the most fascinating things. I think you're pretty groovy, Holly! 😊💜📚🌴🌈🌺 4y
Hooked_on_books @Librariana Thanks, Ana! ☺️ I do like to learn about all sorts of things and keep my reading varied. This one was a lucky find—I was browsing the tiny library near me for books for my Asia challenge and happened to find this (not set in Asia) on the shelf. Fortuitous, since I loved it! 4y

Next up Ghost Ship 👻
This movie has one of the most memorable/gory opening scenes of any horror movie that I have seen.

Started off a little slow with the back story of the ship and it‘s unfortunate crew. Once that groundwork was laid tho, it moved pretty swiftly through the investigation, the numerous (sometimes outlandish) theories to a final, more plausible description of what probably happened to the crew of the Mary Celeste. Overall it‘s a well researched book and I would recommend it.

BookmarkTavern I‘ve listened to a couple podcast episodes that dealt with this. I had no idea there was a book too! 5y
Kaila-ann @chaoticgoodhufflepuff it‘s a fascinating and tragic story. The author did a good job in my opinion, considering all of the mystery surrounding the Mary Celeste. (edited) 5y

The only thing I could find for #MessageInABottle was the Nicholas Sparks book, so I went for the #ship prompt instead. #WhatAWayToLive #PiratesLife

CrowCAH I've heard about this ship and it's eerie how there were no people and she was just floating along, as if life never got interrupted. Good choice for the prompt, she was basically a ship in an atmospheric bottle, unchanged by the outside world. 😊 8y
Reviewsbylola I enjoyed this book a lot! 8y
