✅A book by a Latinx author: Malinche by Laura Esquivel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is not for everyone. I read the Spanish version. It's a book about her culture, beliefs, struggles, slavery, & her fight as a woman who wanted to love, live & be happy with the ones she loved & bring justice to her people. If you like Esquivel's writing style, you'll like this one. She wrote Like Water for Chocolate.
There's a little bit of magic realism .

I loved Like Water for Chocolate so much that I'm afraid to read this title for fear that I won't like it.

I went to see Jimmy Durham's exhibit at the Hammer Museum last month. I couldn't stop thinking about his sculpture Malinche. I wanted to know more. Hence my next read!

At times it was ok and the subject matter was really interesting, but ultimately this one just wasn't very good.

Food, friends, football, and a little reading interspersed in there. Great start to vacation!
