So the MC of this book was just one of identical twins. While both were gifted with a ‘sense‘, the MC, was reluctant to bring hers into her functional adulthood. However, the sense remains a supporting character along with her twin, her husband, and the couple‘s best friends. not what i was expecting based on the title, but still interesting.

My sister and I used to host a Sisters Book Club on Goodreads, and this is one of the titles we read.

1. https://youtu.be/0X4taP8g9S8
2. I like the hip-swaying cadence and the poignant quality of Tift Merritt's voice. Also, it reminds me of when I lived in North Carolina.
3. Meditation breaks and neck and shoulder stretches.

Cosmos_Moon_River Sweet song and love the idea of Sisters Book Club. I have been sending my sister some books after I read them, hoping to bring us closer together, although we live far away. 4y
ImperfectCJ @Cosmos_Moon Similar situation with my sister and me. We've lived hundreds or thousands of miles from one another since I finished school. I find it takes effort, creativity, and perseverance to keep close. I'm not always good at any of those things, though. 4y

This was not what I was expecting. Identical twin sisters, Kate & Violet, have had “senses” since girlhood. Now adults, Vi has embraced her gift while Kate has washed her hands of it. Vi predicts a major earthquake, and both sisters lives are turned upside down. But, about halfway through the book, it turned into less about the both of them and the earthquake and more about Kate and her marriage. 🤷🏻‍♀️

RebelReader This was my least favorite Sittenfeld book. I‘m looking forward to reading her new one, Rodam since normally I really enjoy her books. 5y

This book was a 17 hour listen and in literally the last FORTY MINUTES it went from intriguing and compelling to the exact reason why the poo emoji was created 💩 💩 💩 The characters in here were complex and the storyline's idea was interesting. But then this descended into one person's journey while all the other characters were side-lined, leaving the reader feeling unsettled and disjointed. I can't recommend unfortunately.

MicrobeMom Agree complete! 6y
LoverofLit It was absolutely maddening! @MicrobeMom Also, I have The Rosie Project on my TBR to read next month so let me know what you think! 6y
MicrobeMom @LoverofLit I thought The Rosie Project was really cute. I do feel some people might find it a bit stereotypical and formulaic but I liked it. 6y
LoverofLit @MicrobeMom Oh I'm sorry! I have read The Rosie Project (and felt the same way). I don't know what I was thinking 😅 I meant 6y

The reasons I chose to read this:
1. I'm in love with the narrator, Rebecca Lowman.
2. It fits a category on my #pop18 reading challenge.
3. I really like the synopsis, adult twin sisters who have the eerie habit of predicting things before they happen. One denying she can, while the other embraces it. Set in my home state of Missouri. With a catastrophic earthquake possibly!

I enjoyed this. The dynamics of sisters is represented well. Fighting, hurt feelings, yet still loving each other so deeply.

While I didn‘t regret the time I spent reading this, it‘s not a book I‘d particularly recommend. Some of the characters were fleshed out and interesting, but others fell flat (mostly the male characters). The premise was intriguing (twins sisters who both have some intuitive/psychic ability but who have different attitudes towards it) but the reality didn‘t match the potential. Didn‘t love the ending. Just ok overall.

larah17 This is a really nice pic! 7y

Not sure about this one. I will say it did have me thinking. I just really hated the narrator. She was boring, insecure, judgmental, and not true to herself. The writing was good in a breezy easy to follow sort of way. The book is supposedly about a set of twins with psychic abilities that predict an earthquake. It is really about one of the twin‘s neediness and self loathing. Just not sure.

Making my way through Sittenfeld‘s backlist. The reviews have been so-so, but I have high hopes.

JanJan I️ loved this book! Sittenfeld is so gifted at writing relatable and flawed characters. I️ devour whatever she writes. (edited) 7y

This wasn't as good as Prep and American Wife - but it's still a solid novel. I personally think Sittenfeld is the bomb and she knows how to craft a good narrative. Because this is about twins, she could have gone the dual narrative route (yawn) but she didn't - which to me shows her strength as an author. This isn't a perfect novel but it kept me riveted and entertained. If you need likable characters - this won't be for you.

riversong153 I'm getting so tired if the duel narrator style! I enjoyed Sisterland to but American Wife was awesome! Still haven't gotten to Prep yet. 7y

That's right stupid Holly bush - you've poked me one last time - you're coming down and being replaced with something nicer. And you're going to listen to Sisterland with me while you die.

If you're living with something akin to a Holly Bush - rip that sucker out by the root and replace it. ❤️

Really enjoyed this story. Interesting portrayal about identical twins. Both with "senses" and trying hard to lead very separate lives. But still maintaining a strong bond.

I am strictly an #ereader. I love my Nook. I currently have 1,096 unread books on it. A good majority of them were free or less than $2. I originally received an e-reader because my boyfriend could not take all the books in our small apartment. Then he one for me with a glowlight so I would not bother him at night. I am on my fourth Nook. I got my sister hooked on them too, because she travels all over the place.💓💓💓💓💓 #seasonsreadings2016

Coming in just under the wire, I have one more for #threwitacrosstheroom. I hated this book with all of my soul. The main character, a selfish upper middle class white lady, is literally one of the worst characters I've ever read. Her motivations didn't make sense, and she was thoroughly unloveable. I stopped near the end of the book and looked for a spoiler post on GoodReads. Glad I quit because it was even worse in the end. #photoadaynov16

I wish I enjoyed this one as much as I LOVED Eligible. But that just goes to show not every book by an author of a book you adored is going to tickle your fancy. And that's ok. This really was better than so-so. I was entertained and interested in returning to the story of these twins. Fun fluff

whelanmaria The American Wife is amazing, you should try it if you haven't! I agree about Eligible and Sisterland. I'm hot and cold with Curtis Sittenfeld. 8y
