I‘m pretty chill most of the time but I love Sarah‘s irreverence. 😏

All is calm, all is bright.
Love reading by candlelight and beside the tree.
It‘s not easy to realize that you are in a downward spiral of unhealthy responses to stress, nor is it easy to retrain your brain. I hit a low point recently, and I needed a recharge. I love Knight‘s approach, because she has been there and so it‘s like a friend actually giving helpful advice!
Plus her choose your own adventure ending to work out a stressful scenario? Genius.

To continue on with the self-help books, I‘m finally getting to my shelf of books with F*ck in the title. These are clearly made for Covid times. #currentlyreading
Nothing groundbreaking here, but it‘s good stuff to be reminded of. Plus, the author is pretty funny.
At 6 hrs 28 mins for #24in4. Hoping to get several quality reading hours in today.
I‘m posting one book per day from my ever-increasing TBR. No description. No explanation. Just books to read. Join the fun if you want.
Day 41.

Direct and practical advice on emotional regulation. Not for people who like sugar-coated, sweet talks. She is not a licensed mental health professional, so don't mistake it for theraputic literature. Great for general life coaching. It's part of her series of the No F*cks Given Guide. #quickread #sarahknight #femaleauthor #womanauthor #lifeadvice #lifecoach #quickread #practicaladvice #bluntadvice

I went into this with a lot of doubt. I am not a 100% believer, but there were some valid points made. I do wish she had kept her political opinions/ name calling to herself, as this is one of the things I try to avoid. #wintergames #impromturead #tmskellington #24b42020 @Crimson613 @Andrew65 @TheReadingMermaid

I know this doesn't seem like a lot of time, but I have been so busy, I am ecstatic that I have made it this far. #wintergames #tmskellington #24b42020 @Crimson613 @Andrew65 @TheReadingMermaid
This was described by the author as overly reductive yet extremely helpful content and I think this fits the bill. I think this will be helpful both to people with anxiety and those that are just feeling anxious. Strategies were very clear and easy to follow. My only issue was that I got this as an audio book from the library and because of that I had difficulty retaining a lot of the content. (Continued)
Funny. Common sense advice, but sometimes it needs to be said anyway. A little repetitive, but still worth a read.
"Don't wallow. Don't over think. Seek professional help." wow thanks I never thought of any of those things now I feel better. Also she kept saying 'tarantula'.

Today‘s library book haul brings some non-fiction into the mix. Both seem inspiring in their own ways.

I don‘t know what planets have aligned to make me want to Officially Get My Shit Together but ya girl has been flossing and moisturizing and taking vitamins and trying to work on conquering that pesky anxiety thing. This book (pictured here on the yoga mat I used to Actually Exercise today who am I) was a fun, sweary, pragmatic approach to adjusting your mindset when freaking out. All pretty common sense stuff, but still a good read.
Yesterday was my school holiday op shop day in Maitland. I spent $2.50 at my first stop and got a tie and book for Stew and a de Beauvoir book for me. I‘ve loved her ever since I studied foreign literature at university.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Anti-guru Sarah Knight presents the tools you need to effectively react to shit. Triage your emergencies and calm yourself. Control how you react. Most of this is common sense stuff, but the reminder that other people struggle, too, always helps. Plus, I‘m here for the profanity.
Time to combat some anxiety. My partner found this in the airport on his recent working trip and thought it was a lighthearted way to tackle a serious issue for me, and so far it has been an amazing read!
My daughter just sent me a picture from the airport bookstore. This was her purchase!!!
This book was just what I needed to read at this time in my life. If you can relate to an anxiety-ridden life that has left you bouncing from ostriching to freaking, this book just may be perfect for you, too.
“Calm The F*ck Down” by Sarah Knight (provided to me by the publisher) is a tongue-in-cheek guide to accepting the things you cannot change, finding the courage to change the things you can, and using straight up logic to tell the difference. I loved it! Read more: https://pickingbooks.com/blog/calm-the-fuck-down-review
