I brought a little piece of my home library to my desk at work. 📚 ☕ It's calming to see my little library during the day, plus if I forget to bring a book (gasp), I have spares here. 💕

Same "No bad teams, only bad leaders" mantra, but dragged into hours worth of anecdotes and war stories. I applaud the message of ownership. Too many absolutes that made..absolutely no sense..

(If you're looking for war memoirs, this one actually might be a pick!)

SharonGoforth Someone I work with gave me a copy of this a few years ago. I haven‘t read it yet, and now I may never read it. Thanks for the heads up! 4y
llcoolnate @SharonGoforth I was reading it in conjunction with a few others to challenge my comfortable ways of thinking. One was finding ways to take more ownership and not pass blame on circumstances and people. Thought this book would help along the way. So I may have come into it with the wrong mindset. Either way, it seemed kind of repetitive and almost, hate to say it, humble-bragy at times. Could just be me. 4y
SharonGoforth @llcoolnate Doesn‘t sound like my kind of book, but it will be there if I change my mind. 4y

If you‘ve ever needed an honest, captivating, and truly motivational book, this is it. First and foremost, this isn‘t a war memoir, though Jocko and Leif bring in true stories from their time in Iraq. Instead, this book is written in a way that balances these men‘s real stories from war and the takeaway principles, lessons learned from those stories, and the application to business and real life. 💯 HIGHLY recommend this book!

Great book. Essential read for anyone in a leadership position.

Extreme Ownership is not predictable at all because I have just started reading the book. I have not been surprised at the book so far. But what is shocking is that Jacko Willink is a U.S. Navy Seal.

CoffeeLitNFit It‘s pretty good! It‘s drastically changed how I handle and deal with situations and people at work. 5y
ValerieAndBooks This title (although I don't know how similar the content is) reminds me of this little book I liked 5y

I started to skim chunks of the book as I got deeper into the book. I focused on the “principles” sections, more than the rest of the chapters. Useful tips that I‘ll keep with me (I took notes📝!); probably more of a “so-so” than “pick” for me, but with the takeaways/lessons, I went with “pick”.

My last completed book for 2019.

Recommend to me by a colleague as a solid guide to leadership. Hoping to gain some tidbits to implement on the job. #learningtolead #gottastartsomewhere

This is by far the best book on leadership I‘ve ever read. Former Navy Seals Jocko Willink and Leif Babin take real-life war scenarios and apply them to business principles. Each chapter focuses on a principle and then explains how that can be applied in business. Jocko now does consulting for businesses and I have to admit I‘m obsessed with his leadership style. Who better to learn from than the greatest military in the world.

Awesome read. Each chapter provides explanation of a leadership principle which occurred in the battle field, then gives an example of how that principle has also been carried over into business practices.
