Weekend morning reading... my little llama bookmark makes me happy. 😁 🦙
Not a fan of some of the language used in this book.
I found this book engaging, and it pulled me through the pages quickly. The main character, Jewel, left me conflicted. At times I liked and admired her strength and resolve, at other times I found her lacking. I guess that made her human. Sometimes, I have to remember not to judge too harshly women from a different time and place. Trigger warning: the casual use of the n-word makes this difficult to read at times. #192019 #MountTBR
Sometimes the obvious choice is what comes to mind. #jewels #splashintosummerreads

When my daughter's school library has giveaways while purging old books, she looks through them and tries to find something I might be interested in. She brought this one home for me last time, and it's still unread.
That is just how pervasive my book 'problem' is in my family... my kids feed my addiction. 😂
The writing was lyrical yet so unpretentious. The events in this family's life singing with reality, strength and love. I was saddened yet happy for the ties that bind and that gave this mother the love she sacrificed and carved out of every inch of her time on earth.
This one has been on the #TBR shelf for awhile. That's what the randomizer on #Goodreads will do for your indecisiveness. #firstworldbookproblems #booklover #bookishgirl
