A fun short story revisiting the enthralling world of #HisDarkMaterials and #BookofDust. Helps bridge the gap between BoD#2. Next up, “The Collectors“ and then “Serpentine“ if I can find it.

Great little read on a cozy rainy day! It was fun to see Lyra on another exciting adventure, a little older now. I also really liked the bits scattered through the book of what I call demifiction—nonfiction belonging to a fictional world—as well as the snippets and vignettes at the end. Any more of Lyra and Will is good! I really hope one of the other Pullman books on my list has a follow-up to this story. I want to know more about the birds.
“Everything means something” said Lyra severely “We just have to find out how to read it”. I adored the amazing world of Philip Pullmans His dark materials and this is a sequel about the hero Lyra and Pan. ❤️❤️#alphabetgame #letterL
The illustrations are gorgeous and I love Pullman‘s prose but the story left much to be desired. It starts out strong but the ending feels rushed and falls flat. I love that it‘s its own self-contained story, but I guess I wanted a bit more… lore?
Still, I enjoy His Dark Materials enough that I don‘t regret reading it. Or purchasing it, for that matter, because it really is a beautiful edition.
I'm so enjoying the 1st book in the His Dark Materials series that I'm already ready to jump into the tagged book. It's only 44 pages so it's totally doable. And available as an ebook so that's a plus!!

#BookReport - Finished 4 books this week. 2 were pretty short, but still made some good progress for a June already.
I have my #BookSpin book on audio. Have about 2 hours left of the Agatha Christie.
I have to not forget to read Pyramids it‘s an ebook, which I always forget to read. It‘s for #ReadYourSign as well as Ninth House which I started yesterday.
#WeeklyForecast - Honestly who knows. I do plan to read those 2 books this month.
Finished my first prompt for #ReadYourSign
12. Read a book written by a Libra Author 10/19/46
This was a fun bonus story. Set 2 years after the end of The Amber Spyglass. It a short story and I listened to it during 1 walk. Also, this is the 3rd one I‘ve listened on audio and I just realized it was narrated by Philip Pullman 🤦♀️ He‘s a really good narrator.
Fun little tidbit of His Dark Materials canon. The tiny hardcover is really cool, with fold-out maps, postcards, etc. Nice lead-in to the Book of Dust trilogy.
(quarantine book #22; checked off the "read a book starting with L" on my reading challenge)
Loved these little stories.
Nice to have a little off story in this world
Might as well wrap up the short stories as well. Love visiting Lyra‘s Oxford!
Sometimes I wonder if I should have applied to Cornell but then I‘m in rooms like this, haunted with someone playing the organ where I can‘t see. Creaking floors and intricate rugs and I think maybe not. I like the messy warmth of Ithaca
I mean, that's my bag almost ready for my trip to London and Oxford. What should l do with the stowaway? 🤔😂

How did I not know this existed?!? This requires a reread of the main story.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't expect more from this book. Felt a very pointless read in the grand scheme of things, but that's not to say it wasn't well written and atleast somewhat enthralling; it's just a shame it ended as it was starting to get exciting.

Husband‘s out, little one is asleep, now for some quality time with my books!
This one is a companion short story to the His Dark Materials trilogy that I never got around to reading. Full of lovely little illustrations and bits like the map of Oxford shown and the postcard from Mary Malone.
I‘m reading this and the other short story Once Upon a Time in the North before starting the Book of Dust.
Ordered this brand new book and this is how it arrived. What even? 😅 There was also a small hole in the sleeve cover. Must have gotten stuck in the printing machine or something.
Ordered a replacement of course!

A perfect little read for a cold December night. I‘m hesitant to open anything very long this late in the year, so this bijou little beauty fit the bill. The best thing about it? I bought my copy in Oxford. And it really is an ode to that city. Little more than a nibble of a story, really, but a nibble from the delightful, and very rich slice of pie that is the Dark Materials series.
A bunch of people posted this on on Litsy and elsewhere. I remain unconvinced.
@jfalkens Here are the two I was talking about yesterday! I happened to find out about them somewhere online, and every Golden Compass fan I've talked to about these doesn't seem to know about them! Spread the word!

Short but great. A follow on from his dark materials books. Kathy found it in op shop for $1. Great jet lag read. 😊
My imaginings of me in four fictional characters 😍 or maybe this is wishful thinking ahaha Lyra Silvertongue, Tiffany Aching, Lorelei Gilmore (for coffee and manicness) and Violet (although I kinda channel Hannah sometimes too) 😝
#tbrtuesday Vertical edition. Additions since last time are 4/5 of my library haul from last week: Lyra's Oxford and Lumberjanes volumes 2-4. #5 of the library haul is Once Upon a Time in the North, which I already read. Still #3 on the library's list to check out Wise Man's Fear. I'm not even that impatient to read it, just surprised they only have 2 copies.
