We found these classics at an odd lots store in France. This is exciting for me! I am looking forward to reading The Secret Garden again. Hoping that my son will be interested in reading some of these too.

Just as magical as the first time I read it. It's a lovely representation of youthful innocence. Th way the children view the world as a place os magic is something special and something as adults we tend to loss unless we actively work at it.

Well, that was completely delightful! This audio performance by the Oscar winning Glenda Jackson was just perfect. A lovely narration complete with a little music and sound effects that made it feel like a radio play. A lovely revisit of a childhood favorite.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Audio for the opportunity to listen.🎧💕

A very charming children‘s classic... as long as you ignore the racist commentary. The book is from 1911 so I wasn‘t terribly offended but... 🤷‍♀️
Pic: This weekend we found a little winery with a beautiful garden. How apt 🥰

I‘ve heard about this book my whole life and just read it for the first time in my 60‘s. I always thought it would be some sort of fantasy, but I was totally wrong. The story of 2 children Mary and Colin who were unloved children coming alive while cultivating a garden is magical in the unfettered joy they obtain through nature and their imagination. I loved it from the first until the last word.

Amoon SPOILER!! “Colin both talked and listened as he had never done either before. And they both began to laugh over nothing‘s as children will when they are happy together. And they laughed so that in the end they were making as much noise as if they had been ordinary 10 year old creatures - instead of a hard, unloving girl and a sickly boy who believed he was going to die.” 4y

The Secret Garden is an enjoyable book. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed Glenda Jackson‘s narration.
Mary is lonely and then finds a secret garden. The Secret Garden is an interesting story. It is a classic story, but I didn‘t know anything about it before reading this version.

Thank you NetGalley and William Collins/Harper Audio for The Secret Garden. #netgalley #thesecretgarden #audiobook

I really enjoyed reading this book. It showed the growth of Mary and her cousin Collin and it even showed the growth of Collins father after the loss of his wife/Collins mother. I think this book has a deeper meaning than a lot of people realise, in that it shows what a little bit of love, friendship and courage can do to a person. It shows that happiness can be found in the darkest of a situation and maybe all it takes is a garden to be happy in.
