After only reading the first book in this series, I can already tell that I'm going to love it and want to read everything Hobb has ever written. 💚

Fitz is such a great character that I couldn't help but invest myself completely in his journey of magic, adventure, espionage, and animals of course.

I've already checked out the next one from the library and I can't wait to start it later today.

Chapter 11. Slow burn. Lots of character thoughts. Not much plot. Like I‘m having some time with an old friend. This is my first Robin Hobb. Thought I‘d DNF it but hear so many people in love with Fitz and the Fool so I‘m going to keep going.

I finally read my 1st Robin Hobb book and I LOVED IT. I love the complexity of Fitz and Burrich‘s relationship. I loved how subtle this story was, it‘s the start, so not a lot of action but solid worldbuilding and character introductions. Lady Patience ripped my heart out, I cried so hard for her and if you have read it I would hope you know what scene in talking about. The illustrations were gorgeous but I wish there was more in it.

My bookish spending was clearly OUT OF CONTROL last month.

I‘m pleased I only bought stuff I didn‘t have to add to La TBR: a fun cookbook, my very own copy of YOTSUBA&! Vol 1, and the illustrated edition of ASSASSIN‘S APPRENTICE.

I have made it mine. ❤️

Indigo books had a promotion last week that tripled your points everytime you bought a book - then you got 1 week after that to spend them. It knocked 20 bucks off the cover price of this beauty. 👌

Yesterday I left the new edition of ASSASSIN‘S APPRENTICE on the shelf because it was just too expensive. Today I discovered the ebook is on for $2.99! Kobo wouldn‘t let me buy it because I own the non-illustrated ebook (which I hoped meant they‘d upgraded me; no dice), but I nabbed it on Kindle and promptly flipped through to look at all the pictures.

I‘m happy. Tbh, I wouldn‘t have actually read the hardcover. This copy, I‘ll read and love.

I went to visit the fancy new edition of ASSASSIN‘S APPRENTICE this morning. Alas, at $47 it‘s a bit outside my price range, but I enjoyed fondling it. Hopefully I‘ll someday find a copy at the thrift store.

Owning the mass market Paperback as well as the anniversary editions did not stop me from buying the illustrated edition. And it is so beautiful! There can never be enough of Fitz & the Fool
