Up next is this Science/Crime novel by an Australian author. Loosely based on a drug trial that went horribly wrong in the 2000s, it‘s about a young Vietnamese-Australian medical researcher who discovers a promising new immunology drug. But as the first human trial gets underway, Dr Tran is found dead under mysterious circumstances & the motives of everyone around him are put under the microscope.🔬🦠💉 It‘s 6am so I‘m off to bed😴Catch ya later!

#BookMail Pt8 Another new Aussie author with a debut novel that sounds fantastic. We‘ve had some brilliant writers emerge in the past few years, makes me so happy!😃This medical mystery is based on a true story about a drug trial gone wrong. Former refugee turned brilliant doctor, David Tran, has invented a drug that could change immunology forever. Eight people are recruited for the trial, but when David dies, motives are questioned. #AussieApril

AntoinetteBuchanan Such a good book! 6y
Lizpixie @AntoinetteBuchanan is it? Awesome, I kinda bought it on faith, the story sounded good & it was signed. I‘m loving the interest in Aussie authors at the moment👍🇦🇺 6y
AntoinetteBuchanan It is very assured for a first novel. I enjoyed it a lot. Crime/thriller fiction is my sorbet. And yes, the current interest in Australian works is great. 6y
Joanne1 There has been some outstanding Aussie writers around at the moment aren‘t there. 6y

Pickpick

A neat and pretty satisfying thriller. Perhaps a one or two too many voices but I will forgive it for making me think about the ethics of drug development and testing, not least of which because I am dependent on MABs for my own quality of life. 4 stars

Crazeedi Interesting topic, I love medical themed books 6y
AntoinetteBuchanan @Crazeedi I am not usually so keen but this really worked. It felt very well researched but didn‘t fall into the trap of the author showing off ALL of her research, if you know what I mean. 6y
Crazeedi @AntoinetteBuchanan yes I know what you mean!!! 6y

My companion running errands today is this new thriller from Australian author Susan Hurley. I haven‘t heard anything about it but it popped up in the newly acquired section of the library‘s RB Digital account so I thought I would give it a go. And it counts for #aussieapril and #aww2019. It has me in its thrall so far, 5 long chapters in
