😵 😵 😵 😱 😱 😱 😰 😰 😰 😭 😭 😭I wonder how much she would have thrived if she had not remarried Diego Rivera 😪

I won‘t lie - I‘m a Frida fan girl through and through. And this book just made me fall in love with her all the more. It‘s so raw and honest, I loved that the biographer relied on letters and direct conversations to convey Frida‘s story, because that‘s how she would have wanted to be remembered (I imagine). Frida was such a beautiful, strong, phenomenal woman. It was a true pleasure getting to know this icon up close.

Much of this biography is #SetInMexico, as Kahlo lived primarily in Mexico City. If you ever have the chance to visit her home in Coyoacán (La Casa Azul, now a museum), don't miss it! #BiblioMAYnia #frida

Wow!! There is so much information in this book, don‘t read unless you want to know everything! It took me longer than normal as I had to look at every picture as the book was discussing it.
Frida was compelling, contradictory and complex and I think I‘m a little bit in love with her! I‘m definitely in awe of her.
Fascinating read.

I couldn't think of too many #artrelatedbooks that I read and was all that excited about (though I almost went with The Goldfinch), but I've had this biography of Frida Kahlo on my want-to-read list forever and I think I'll try to get to it in 2017. I believe the Salma Hayek movie was based specifically on this biography, though I haven't actually seen that movie. #seasonsreadings2016

From my well worn copy: "Painting was part of Frida Khalo's battle for life. It was also part of her self-creation: in her art, as in her life, a theatrical self-presentation was a means to control her world." #booktober #BooksSetinSAmerica

Josie I love Frida and her art work! Such an amazing woman. 8y

A little different for my #wcw - an amazing biography about a vivid woman! Friday Kahlo seems to be everywhere but without all the fascinating details of her life widely known. A well researched look at Frida's childhood during the Mexican Revolution, a devastating injury, her politics, sexuality and marriage, and of course her artwork!

Bibliogeekery 💜❤️💚 Frida!! 8y
BookishFeminist Frida is amazing! I need to read a biography of her. 8y

Frida Kahlo is one of my favorite artists. I read this when I was very young, probably too young to fully comprehend exactly what she went through. An amazing read about her life from childhood to death. I highly recommend if you are a fan of her art!

MyBookLife Did you see the movie Frida? It's so good ❤️❤️ 9y
Josie I did! I actually saw the movie first and became obsessed! I was only 14 or 15 at the time but I went crazy! The movie and the book match up pretty well, too. It's not often you can say that. 9y
