Bookseller Delaney Nichols is sent to the Shetland Islands to retrieve a book with special significance, and gets caught up in a confounding murder. Delaney Nichols is delighted with her life in Edinburgh, working at The Cracked Spinea shop that specializes in hard-to-find books and artifacts. In addition to her wonderful job, she has an equally wonderful boyfriend-turned-fiance in the handsome Tom. Itching for another Scottish adventure, shes happy to help when her boss, Edwin MacAlister, approaches her to ask if she will take a trip to hunt down a specific book that has haunted him for years. When Delaney arrives, she stumbles upon a stunningand valuablecollection of old books, plus an array of odd characters. But when the owner of the precious tome is found dead the morning after she meets with Delaney, its clear that theres foul play afoot. Continuing our #VirtualTour of Scotland by visiting the Famous Eilean Donan Castle, Loch Ness along the Great Glen and Drumnadrochit. And we even seem to have caught the Loch Ness Monster on camera!!!! What mystery?!?

How has your Friday been? How is your mood, resilience and general well being? Looking forward to the weekend?

IamIamIam I had my phone in hand while I'm waiting on line to get into Trader Joe's so I got the notification immediately! Lol, one of my favorite Disney shorts is Nessie & these views are beautiful!! 😍 Today my son's teacher did a drive by each of her students' homes and we got quite emotional. Otherwise a relatively okay day. It's too flipping cold, though! 5y
GHABI4ROSES @Andrew65 Hello! Very low pressure day today, just ready for the weekend, and to try for more again with the new week. Read 64 pages yesterday, lots of kid stuff to enjoy, but already surpassed that today, for our #easterextravaganza ! Just got my gut punch in my book @Lesanne and see you soon on GR, @SquidgetsRoom 5y

Tove_Reads Been there, done that! Oh, I miss traveling around Alba. 5y
Birdsong28 Yes! We have the loch ness finally 🦕 👍 👏It was such good news that we managed to find him! Can we find Jamie Fraser next? 😍😍😍😍 😂It's been an ok day not read that much tho will try again tomorrow 😔🤔📚📖 5y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘m at work... we continue to see many covid-19 patients 😓 Our governor extended our shelter in place another week. Of course I‘m happy about it, but some people are furious. They aren‘t adhering anyway... My daughter really wants to go back to work 😫 I‘m just blah Andrew... How are you my friend? 💙 5y
TheBookHippie I so appreciate these check ins Andrew. Snow here. I love these daily pictures so beautiful💙. As for me to exasperated for words . But I‘m healthy so very thankful. 5y
Susanita Love Urquhart Castle! 5y
Andrew65 @IamIamIam Good luck with your shopping. A relatively okay day is good. 😊 5y
Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES That‘s great, hope you have a good and productive weekend. 🥰 5y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Me too! Need to be there for real! 😊 5y
Lesanne @GHABI4ROSES Omg wasn‘t it devastating? Especially from Arya‘s POV. 5y
Andrew65 @Birdsong28 Will keep eagle eyes out for Jamie and Claire! Good luck for your weekend and any reading you get to. 😍 5y
Birdsong28 @Andrew65 Not so much Claire but definitely Jamie 😂😍 Thank you I think I will need it. 😘 📚 📖 5y
Andrew65 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks We‘re in lockdown for a minimum of another three weeks, announced yesterday. Another 847 deaths announced today 😢 The vast majority in the UK seem to support this, me included! I‘ve been very blah today, felt low mood today, you try to kick it off, some days this work, but not really working today. Tomorrow is another day. Just trying to keep a head in a book. Take care 🥰 Possibly a bit stir crazy today. (edited) 5y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Thanks, pleased they help as so much negativity around at the moment. At least in main in U.K. you have consistent messages from government and a situation which is the same across the country, I think that helps. Although so much in media about reopening schools. 😡 Are they serious! 😡😡😡 5y
Andrew65 @Susanita It is a great castle. 😍 5y
wordslinger42 My day has been pretty good, though there is some stress from the many people we know who aren't social distancing. We live near a lake where many people come up seasonally from all over. Several of our seasonal neighbors are coming up every weekend from a big city with the expectation that we're going to hang out. Trying to cope with lots of reading, hot tea, and crafting! 5y
wordslinger42 Also, all the pictures are stunning! I'll have to add these places to my bucket list 😊 5y
kezzlou85 Love the pictures especially Nessie. Been a better day today. 5y
Andrew65 @Birdsong28 🤣🤣🤣 5y
Andrew65 @kezzlou85 That‘s great to hear. Have a good weekend. 🥰 5y
Andrew65 @wordslinger42 I can‘t believe people aren‘t social distancing! 😡 Police are monitoring these tourist areas closely in the U.K. and turning people back. Thanks old not allowed to go to seasonal homes and must stay in our main place of residence. Enjoy your differing activities this weekend. 😍 5y
Velvetfur I love how Nessie is posing for the person's photo! 😂 I've had another bad asthma day, I just got off the phone with my Mum and she's been a bit worse lately too, we think it's the heat as it's not only sudden but quite an oppressive heat. That must be what's setting us off as there doesn't seem to be another explanation. Thank you for all the lovely castle pics too! 5y
Andrew65 @Velvetfur Could the high pollen count at this time of year also be affecting your asthma? Sending positive thoughts, 🥰 5y
wordslinger42 @Andrew65 We've been very upset/surprised by it! Of course, they seem equally flabbergasted by our choice 😅 I'm glad that, at least in some places, tourists are being stopped! I will definitely try to enjoy the weekend! Thanks for doing these check-ins 😊 5y
CocoReads Snow here, but an ok day. Had to work so my foot is killing me and I work the weekend so I‘ve got it wrapped and propped up right now. The hubs just went to get us some pizza (our weekly treat) and then I‘ll read a bit and go to bed. 5y
CocoReads Oh, and I love the pictures. This tour of Scotland has been wonderful! 5y
Andrew65 @CocoReads Pizza and reading, what could be better! Sorry to hear the door is still causing so many problems. 😔 5y
Andrew65 @wordslinger42 The way some people are acting beggars belief! 😡 Thanks, glad you are enjoying them. 5y
Velvetfur @Andrew65 Thank you x Hmm maybe the pollen count, but I usually have extreme hayfever in the eyes and nose but this time I've got nothing, just the asthma kicking off. Maybe it's that as well then. My eczema flared up on the back of my hand the other day too so maybe it is to do with that after all! 5y
kezzlou85 @Andrew65 thank you. Have a lovely weekend too. 5y
Andrew65 @Velvetfur The intense washing of hands has set off eczema on the back of my hand too, especially my left hand. 5y
Andrew65 @kezzlou85 Thanks 😍 5y
Ms_T The Loch Ness Monster though! 😂 5y
Andrew65 @Ms_T 😊👍🤣 5y
TrishB I think life is mocking me now. One of my team, a trusted colleague and friend had a stroke, due to a brain bleed last night. I had to tell my team online today and then wasn‘t there with them 😢😢 felt so awful. It looks like my friend will be ok, off for a while but hopefully full recovery. Low tolerance for bad news. 5y
Andrew65 @TrishB Oh Trish that is terrible, that is the biggest problem not being able to support people properly at the moment and give them a hug where needed. 😔 The good news is it sounds as if she should be okay. Sending all my love and best wishes. 🥰 I think we all have low tolerance to bad news at the moment and that is all we seem to be getting. 😢 (edited) 5y
TheSpineView It has been a wonderful day! Wish everyone the same!😘 5y
Andrew65 @TheSpineView That‘s great, hope you have a good weekend. 5y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Hi Andrew! Sorry it hasn't been a great day for you. I hope tomorrow brings a brighter day. Today I did some tedious tasks for work but I got to create a spreadsheet, which is normally boring, but allowed for a modicum of creativity & a change of pace. I also watched a Chuck reunion/table read that streamed via Zoom or the such. @TrishB I am so sorry for all your recent troubles. I am sending good juju to you, your family, and friends. 5y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Andrew65 I wish we were in lockdown for three more weeks!! I hope you feel better soon!! Are you able to get mail? 5y
DieAReader @Velvetfur @Andrew65 Intense (hand) washing has been crazy painful 😖this year for my hands. Not getting the chance to heal properly before the cracks, splits, bloody knuckles & itchy/burn all the time starts again. I can only apply hand cream so often. It takes time to absorb the stuff I need to use. 😖🥺 5y
DieAReader Today was a mixed one. Little sleep last night & an early morning was quickly turned into a great thing when @GHABI4ROSES & started sprinting with ☕️😉 Got aime routine kitchen stuff done followed by a 3+ hour nap this afternoon. Made waffles for supper & have been reading off & on since. Overall not a bad day at all. Hope you have a great weekend @Andrew65 📚🥰 5y
TrishB Thank you 💜 we all need resilience badges after this. 5y
Velvetfur @SquidgetsRoom Ugh, the hands are the worst place for eczema as they're always moving, I went through hell with mine many years ago, you have my full sympathy as the anxiety of these times just makes it worse 🙁 @Andrew65 you're probably right about the washing, as my skin got really dry so I was moisturising all the time, but eczema's probably a development of that 🙁 5y
Velvetfur @TrishB I'm so sorry to hear about your colleague/friend! Sad news, but I'm glad to hear they're starting on the road to recovery. Many hugs to you and your other colleagues xxx 5y
TrishB @Velvetfur thank you ♥️ everyday is a hurdle to get over! 5y
Q84 Oh my! This is so beautiful! 5y
GHABI4ROSES Thanks for the tags @Andrew65 and @SquidgetsRoom yes that was awesome. I was not so productive yesterday, but I was calm. Finished Game of Thrones, WOW on that book. (edited) 5y
GHABI4ROSES @Lesanne YES on that POV, OMG. I swear I felt you holding my virtual hand, through. What bugged me was that he said what he said, yet still... 5y
Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES Onto book 2. 🤣 5y
GHABI4ROSES Uh, YEAH🤣 5y

Love. It had been a minute since I read the previous installment, so I had to go back and make sure I hadn't missed a book. After refreshing my memory, though, the story flowed and I was back with my friends Delaney and the bookstore crew. Loved getting to “meet“ Delaney's family from Kansas! This is one of those series where I find myself thinking and talking about the characters as if they were “real“ people that I just haven't seen lately.

The Loch Ness Papers was an enjoyable read. The characters were believable and some even a bit quirky. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in murder, myth, and “Nessie”.
