7 posts | 6 read | 2 to read
Eric Carles beloved tale, Roosters Off to See the World, now comes with a CD narrated by award-winning actor Stanley Tucci! Rooster has gotten tired of living on the farm, so one sunny day he decides that he wants to travel and see the world. But Rooster is feeling a bit lonely on his outing. So when he meets two cats, he invites them to come along. And then he meets three frogs, four turtles, and five fish who all join, too! But Rooster hasnt thought about food or shelter. When his newfound companions head back home, the hungry and homesick Rooster eventually follows. Hes learned that while its wonderful to set out on an adventure, theres nothing as sweet as coming home. With his trademark collage illustrations and lively text, Eric Carle helps young readers count from one to five and then back down from five to one in this delightful story thats now available as a book & CD narrated by Stanley Tucci!

From an adult reader's perspective, this is just another opportunity to feast the eyes on Eric Carle's art, and I will happily take any opportunity to do so.

Rooster‘s Off to See the World is a great MF math book to add to you classroom library. While Rooster is planning on travelling the world, he meets several friends who are added, then subtracted, from his group. A great math activity (https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/lesson-plans/teaching-content/roosters-see-world-lesson-plan/) can be used to count and follow the timeline of the story, accounting for all of the animals joining the group.

OliviaBuck UDL 3.2 can be emphasised to highlight patterns, critical features, big ideas, and relationships within the book. EL strategy 42- have students use timelines to arrange and sequence important facts and information can also be used alongside this book and activity. #ucflae3414sp21 4y

I would use this book in my future classroom because of the creative illustrations and the book would engage children's sense of adventure.

This book is about a rooster wanting to travel. It is a picturebook because it is a book that truly appeals to children by exploring their imagination and adventure instead of it being written for adults. Also, the size of the book is appropriate for the content because it provides just enough pages about the rooster's adventures.
