Near Mulholland Drive, Dr. Stanley Kent is found shot twice in the back of the head. It's the case LAPD detective Harry Bosch has been waiting for, his first since being recruited to the Homicide Special Squad. When he discovers that Kent had access to dangerous radioactive substances, what begins as a routine investigation becomes something darker, more deadly, and frighteningly urgent. Bosch is soon in conflict with not only his superiors but the FBI, which thinks the case is too important for just a cop. Complicating his job even more is the presence of Agent Rachel Walling, his onetime lover. Now guarding one slim advantage, Bosch relentlessly follows his own instincts, hoping they are still sharp enough to find the truth--and a killer who can annihilate an entire city.

#SeriesLove2023 Not my favorite Bosch , but I did enjoy it . Harry is called to investigate a murder but because it involves radioactive medical materials, the FBI is investigating as well. We all know Harry doesn‘t always play well with others & fights to keep the integrity of his part in the investigation.

Andrew65 Well done 👏👏👏 2y

This one was quick for me to figure out. I have the feeling that this isn't the first time Connelly has used this basic storyline, but I might be thinking of a book by someone else or maybe it's just a side effect of reading some of the later books first. I felt like Bosch might have turned a corner during the previous Bosch book, but he seems back to his old self again in this one. Still, it was nice to be back in Connelly's LA.

I was a little less invested in this particular investigation (it mostly felt like a pissing match between the LAPD and the FBI), but it was still a fast paced addition to the Bosch series with a solid twist 👌🏽

Book #13 in the Harry Bosch series. This one was definitely in one of the tv episodes so I knew what to expect. Even so it felt quick & didn‘t seem to go too deep. Not a lot of emotional turmoil for Bosch in this one compared to others. I have a feeling the next book will make up for it though.

Well I think this is my least favorite in the Bosch series so far... though it‘s certainly fast-moving (the whole book takes place in just 12 hours!), the plot is pretty easy to untangle and just not as complex or twisting as some of the others. Still, I had fun #AudioColoring while listening!
