I knew I would love it! #NotAnotherGraphicMonday
How did I not know about this book till it hit my library shelves??
I loved this graphic novel. In a world where teenage girls are feared and everyone tries to control them, some manage to break free. And turn into giant cats.
What if a virus caused females to turn into big cats when they menstruate?
I really enjoyed the first three issues in this volume, along with the in-world fake ads and articles sprinkled throughout. However, that‘s all the fourth issue is and it got a little old. I think this volume needed another issue or two to develop the story more. I will pick up the next volume soon. #screamathon
Grabbed the first two volumes of this odd sci-fi/dystopia comic from the library, and ended up really loving them. What if menstruation made teen girls turn into man-hunting were-panthers every month? How would the government and society control it? The series includes a bit too much supplemental propaganda matter— a little goes a long way, imo— but the humor was perfect and I want to follow this plot 🐾
A virus has caused teenage girls to turn into people killing panther like creatures when they get their periods. This has created a very misogynistic culture.
Spot-on humor. I loved everything about this graphic novel. The fake public service announcements, the ads, the cat journal entries. Just awesome. #scarathlon #TeamStoker 4pts
Okay, last post before I review (I tried to resist but this kitty photo is too good).
They make memes of me

Now my anger grows.

Oooh, I can already tell that I‘m going to love this comic. (With 🐈 paws 🐾 on the cover it was already a pretty high likelihood). #scarathlon #TeamStoker 1pt

I loved loved loved this! I need to get volume 2 :)
I‘m only halfway through volume 1 but I‘m absolutely loving this comic so far. Feminism and Satire. What could be better?
Finished vol. 1 this morning. Love it! Need vol 2 now.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘ve got a lot on my plate for the next month, so graphic novels it is!!
Corgis!! 😍😍 I LOVE the artwork in this book. 📖
Picked this up at Powell‘s when I was in Portland this weekend! I‘m really getting into graphic novels/comics 😍 the idea behind this one really hooked me. Love the artwork!
Trade waiting is so hard! I wish this had been more than 4 issues! Perfect feminist comic that attacks ideas about gender through the horror-comedic premise of girls turning into giant man-eating cats with their period.
What if women could turn into a dangerous monster with no advance warning and young men‘s lives and futures were on the line.
Deliciously dark irony, I loved it....I‘ll just stack this one by Bitch Plant and The Power.😉
I loved this book. It follows Maude, a twelve year old girl who is scared she is a cat monster. In a world where bacteria found in cat poo has mutated and infected most of the worlds population, girls that hit puberty have a hormonal change that triggers a transformation into a big cat. A really angry hormonally charged panther. Thousands died before the government stepped in and vaccinated all girls with hormone regulation. It was 99% affective.
Chelsea Cain can really do no wrong IMO, but this is bloody (figuratively and literally) brilliant! A mutation causes menstruating women to turn into vicious, blood-thirsty panthers. The solution is to subdue women, by lessening their estrogen, and strengthen men, by increasing their testosterone. But is a teenage rebellion forming?? Can‘t wait for volume 2!!
Volume 1 collects the first 4 issues of Man-Eaters. This is a great feminist comic geared toward YA readers but as a 30-something I enjoyed it too! Cain's humor is wicked sharp as always and the graphic design, from the covers to the propaganda throughout, are fantastic. Issue 4 is actually just a propaganda magazine mock-up and doesn't have anything to do with the story arc, which seemed like an odd way to end a volume.
I‘m loving this comic series. Taking this piss out of the patriarchy in a very entertaining way. Keep your boys safe, and at all costs prevent the girls from turning into big man eating cats.
I knew nothing going in & I have to thank the staff at Chicago Comics again. The story, set in a world afflicted by a mutation in Toxoplasmosis which turns menstruating women into “ferocious killer wildcats,” is great (as is the worldbuilding) with the promise of more awesomeness to come. As panic about the mutation spreads, 12 year-old Maude will have a big role to play. An excellent, well-written & illustrated, feminist AF comic. Recommended.
Happy new #comics day everyone. Small haul today (only 1 post). 😂
JLD are still fighting the creepy 'upside down man.'
Man Eaters is a new series about a mutation that causes all menstruating women to turn into killer wildcats. 😱😁
Black Panther is dumb & I'm dropping it.
Tereifics is getting boring & will drop it too now that the FF are back.
Old Man Hawkeye only has 3 issues left.
X-O Manowar is B.A.
