I've never read anything by Sandford, but I plucked this one from my LFL. The premise, a small town experiences a miraculous Mother Mary apparition followed by seemingly random shootings, could have been fleshed out more. Maybe I'd have enjoyed it more if I'd read earlier Virgil Flowers books, but it worked well enough as a stand alone. It was fast paced, but only so so. I'd read another, but only if it makes its way to my LFL. 🙂

The Virgil Flowers series remains the detective style mystery series I can remember where the dialogue and observations make me giggle on a regular basis, which is why I keep reading them, despite never quite shaking the occasional appearance of wince-worthy passages representing small town not-quite-enlightened mindsets 1/?

I love the “that fuc$&#€ Flowers” mysteries. A lot of humor, great side kick cops, just the right hint of morality. In this (the 11th) Flowers arrives in Pinion, MN, where Mary has appeared in a end-down Catholic Church and someone is apparently shooting the faithful. What is actually happening makes for a great read.

Highly recommend as an antidote for the latest political insanity, or if our necessary social distancing is getting you down.

This story is a Virgil Flowers saga. He is called to solve some shootings in a nearby town. A miracle has occurred at the Catholic church. Sightings of the Virgin Mary have turned the dying town into tourist central. More tragic murders happen before Virgil as solves the crime. Highly recommend.

What can I say? I just love anything John Sandford writes.
The Virgil Flowers series is just fab really enjoyed this one. Funny and entertaining ?

Well didn't expect to finish my first book of the year so soon. My second book was supposed to be Holy Ghost by John Sandford but still waiting for it to be available at the library👎 Hopefully it will be ready to pick up tomorrow🤞

Going to read a short story next which is one from my reading challenge - a book that was written before I was born. The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros

Typical Sandford: Entertaining, fast paced, and nice little twist. Virgil is in fine form. The Virgin Mary has been spotted in small town Minnesota. Why are people getting shot? What do LEGOS have to do with the book? Read it and find out.

Another winner from Sandford! I may like the Virgil Flowers series even more than the Prey books. This one had tons of laugh-out-loud moments, thanks to Flowers, Jenkins, Shrake, and a fabulously eclectic cast of “locals”. A fun, fast read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I‘ve been battling an extra nasty migraine all day and #Bailey is sick, too. She‘s been pacing, nauseated, whining, and just all around behaving weirdly. I‘m freaking out, which isn‘t helping the migraine. Im going to attempt to read the tagged book. Sandford usually helps me escape reality. Here‘s hoping Bailey and

I should be reading one of several in-progress books to try to check off a challenge prompt or two even though I won‘t complete any other challenges before the end of the year. BUT, I just realized I didn‘t read this Virgil book when it came out in October! Sorry currently reading stack. The heart wants what the heart wants. 😂

Virgil Flowers is called to the small town of Wheatfield, where people are being shot randomly, by a sniper, on their way to see the “miracle” at the local church. No one hears the shots and the shooter disappears. As usual, I 💜💜💜 this book and the antics of “that f🤬ing Flowers!!! 😂🤣

Haven't read John Sanford in awhile. This was a Virgil Flowers Novel. It involved the sighting of the Virgin Mary and someone shooting people near the church.

I can always count on Sandford for a fun, fast read. #readathon
