I just finished reading this, and now I want to hug *my* childhood Favorite, Barclay. 💜 This book was wonderful. Rich language, beautiful illustrations, and so much heart. We borrowed it from the library, but I think I'm going to get my kiddo a copy of her own.
My absolute favorite children's author right now, Joyce weaves tales that touch your soul. Accompanied by gorgeous art, these books pack a punch. I'm not even finished reading Ollie's Oddyssey to my daughter yet and it's a fave. #TheFantasticFlyingBooks also makes a fine book for parent reader day at school. Brings emotional depth and a charming story that chokes me up every time. William Joyce shows what children's literature can be...POWERFUL!
I finished 17 books in January but they wouldn't all fit in one collage. I had a lot more private time in the car to listen to audiobooks this month.
A modern classic about ones "favorite" childhood toy and the power of imagination!

Sometimes you have to #bribe them with #gummiecandy lol I have wanted this #book since we had our little guy. And now I can #read it to him 💖📚 #OlliesOdyssey #WilliamJoyce #son #booknerd #bookstagram #LitsyFeature
This book has amazing illustrations! Some of them are creepy like this one and others are sweet and adorable. My only complaint about this book is that it's not really one of the kids books that spans all ages. It's one of the ones that feels a bit weird to read as a single 20-year-old, but I count it as kids department research! 😂
Joyce is so excellent at this. His stories are always just the right kind of magical, his use of language is beautiful, and his illustrations are amazing. Do give this one a go, if you like this sort of thing. Like all his other books, it's lovely.
