Another good beach story from this author. TW: cancer plays a big role in this story. I enjoyed the story of 3 women each escaping their major problems by spending the summer at the beach.

I thought I had a good handle on my thrifted Elin stack until I was building my August BookSpin list and realized I had several unread paperbacks, as well. So my August TBR is Elin heavy! I almost always enjoy the reading experience but I don‘t always like the character dynamics. Like this one, for this summer Vicki and her kids deserved more from Brenda and Melanie.
This isn‘t my kind of book. Too much family drama and angst followed by an unrealistic ending. However, it wasn‘t the ending I was expecting so points for that.
Getting ready to enjoy my coffee and some audio crocheting ☕️🧶
Have a great weekend, Littens!
This is a story about 3 women (2 of them sisters) who decide to leave their problems and spend a summer on Nantucket. Well, mostly leave their problems. They bond with a young man on the island who becomes part of the family. At first I found these characters a little hard to like, but by the end I was wrapped in the story and rooting for them all. Not light reading per say, but an emotional ride that was entertaining. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
My #bookspin Bingo card. I was on vacation the first week of August and hardly read at all (typical for me - our family group vacation is very social with not much “me time”). Then the week after vacation has been a s$&t show with work, so I‘ve hardly read this week either. I have A LOT of making up to do... Hoping to finish Barefoot today, and start on the #bookspin book, Find Me. ❤️📚
Morning reading on vacation. I could get used to this. My brother took the 4 youngest kids (all teenagers) to the beach to watch the sun rise. He‘s such a good Uncle. ❤️ Making memories.
Thunderstorm at the beach. That means beer o‘clock coincides with reading time. ❤️📚🍺 Jury is still out on this book. Not a light read, for sure.
My favorite reading spot! ❤️🌊📚
Currently in the OBX on vacation with family. Isaias is on his way. It‘s our one vacation a year, so we are very happy that they didn‘t place an a evacuation order for this area. The wind has picked up and it‘s gray, but he hasn‘t officially arrived with his wrath yet. For now, this backdrop is perfect for some afternoon reading (especially this beach based book) while others nap and play in the pool. ❤️ #Isaias #HurricaneIsaias
I had such a hard time figuring out what to read next. I was looking for a beachy read. I settled on this one. ❤️📚
It‘s so 2020 to be reading a book about a main character with lung cancer, and find out my grandfather was just diagnosed with lung cancer and COPD. Got the news on Monday.
Stage 1, they caught it early. He smoked for years. He‘s also the biological grandfather I only met for the first time in 2017 when I found my birth family. So thankful for my sisters right now (all 3 of us were placed for adoption and found each other in adulthood).
This paragraph made me REALLY miss going out to restaurants.
Indoor dining opened up in our state at 50% capacity in May/June, (can‘t remember which), but we aren‘t eating out at restaurants yet since cases keep climbing.
Wow do I miss it right now! 😋🍲🥗🥘
Elin Hilderbrand, you have some problematic ✍🏼 here.
If you don‘t know why calling POC characters exotic is harmful and problematic, here‘s a great read for you: https://writingwithcolor.tumblr.com/post/121695544649/we-recently-received-a-mes...
First book finished in my new place and I wish I could say it was a pick. Elin's books are usually so solid for me and while this is written well as per usual, I didn't care for it nearly as much and it dragged on a bit. A light-hearted read this is not.
I didn‘t realize that my picture for yesterday‘s prompt had an answer for today‘s in it too. Here‘s a close up of just Elin Hilderbrand‘s book #Barefoot I haven‘t read this but I have a copy. #BloomingBibliophiles
This was an okay light read.. I did get invested in the characters, but their personalities didn‘t wow me whatsoever. Not my favorite from Hildebrand.
Off to New Orleans! This will be my in flight entertainment 😊 My first time going to New Orleans and my first time reading Elin Hildebrand. Excited for both!
I liked this book a lot, but didn‘t love it. I feel like it would have been more beneficial as four separate stories and not one crammed into the book. It needed more depth. Still, it was a light and good read. 3.5*
Nothing like a summer beach read to try and forget about the -1 degree weather outside with even colder wind chill temperatures.
Loved this! 3 women on vacation + 1 male babysitter = summer shenanigans. Elin H. is great at balancing serious with humor and drama. I never felt overwhelmed; I just wanted to keep turning pages. I love the characterization here and I love the relationships (the sisters' thoughts/talks read so true to me). I also love the setting.
I added the audio from the library. Narrated by Rachael Warren 🎧 📖 💯✔️

The reason I love Elin Hilderbrand's books so much: on the surface, it seems I'm getting a fluffy beach read but really the characters are so hilariously real. They ALL have their own 'crazy'-no one is without the mess of life-even if it seems fairly ridiculous when compared to the other characters. I think nearly everyone can relate to someone in at least some of her books.

There's nothing like a cancer plot in a book to get you right in the feels. But besides that fact, this has been a great book.
This quote in particular is something useful for anyone who tends to hold on all of those thoughts that drive us back to our beds, to the dark and scary. Talk, talk, talk!
This is my second favorite Hilderbrand book, next to Blue Bistro. Fabulous beach read without losing quality of writing or depth of characters. Textbook for the genre.
