What a great story! This took some risks I didn't anticipate, and had some real hints of darkness which I appreciate in middle grade adventure stories.

This one starts quickly & does not let up. Robots, a family feud, more than one or two or three secrets—ok, LOTS of secrets—a mysterious grandfather (who doesn‘t like to reveal any more than absolutely necessary ever), a twist, magic (?!?), Robot & human assassins, & nonstop adventure make this a great MG read. The writing is very good & there is no sign of the debut learning curve. Hold on tight, this is a wild ride sure to delight young readers.
Processing new books in the library today and THIS COVER!!! Then I read the blurbs on the back, one of which begins with “If you imagine Rick and Morty colliding with early Spielberg, you get some idea of this delirious adventure...”, and I knew I had to read it. Middle grade book with robots, magic, and more. Yes please!
2/3: Next stop was Barnes & Noble for the #bnkidshangout. The kids did activities including book title charades (Axton pictured acting out his title), draw a graphic novel page and a book cover challenges and a Last Kids on Earth themed mad lib. They gave away two sets of ARCs (Axton didn‘t win but they were pretty cool), all the kids got swag including a signed poster, robot pin and 20% off any of the 5 featured titles. We bought the tagged book.
I do not have time to read all these books and I already own so many!
