I‘m not sure this was for me. There was a psychological suspense element that was well done but, beyond that, there wasn‘t much here. The writing was good enough to keep me going but it was a short book so that wasn‘t really an issue. This was my first McCullers so I may give her more famous novel a shot and see if that agrees with me more.
Thanks for this fun challenge, @sebrittain! All read. Aw, Litsy really loses poor photo quality. It's all blurry now :(

@Karkar is holding a very generous giveaway!! Thank you so much for the opportunity. Here's a stack of favorites of mine, I could never pick a favorite. As much as I like WWII fiction, as you can see, I'd love to win and read The Ghost Bride! It sounds very magical and I hadn't heard of it before. #mymistake
Thanks again! 👏👏🔥💝
Bizarre small novel set on a southern army base in 1938 with an odd cast of characters including a major, his wife, a captain and his wife, a filipino, a private and a wild horse. In a way they are all in a heat of desire, pain, sexual tension and you know something is going to burst open but what, when and to whom. Really a work in emotion, temperature and atmosphere.
"How long this mad ride lasted the Captain would never know."
Fall is finally here! This was one of my favorite reads so far this year and also my first by McCullers. Highly recommended!
