I was fed up after having to read The Little Prince in school years ago. I could never understand the hype about that story. So I was pretty biased when coming across another of de Saint-Exupery‘s stories. I was positivly surprised. Night Flight is written as light as a feather - or the wind carried by the wind.

Already, beneath him, through the golden evening, the shadowed hills had dug their furrows and the plains grew luminous with long-enduring light. For in these lands the ground gives gives off this golden glow persistently, just as, even when ghe winter goes, the whiteness of the snow persists.

This is a book to read more than once. Beautifully written, deep and thoughtful. Small, but big on the inside. A tiny and dark masterpiece.

In honor of what would have been Saint-Exupéry's 100th birthday, I thought I'd jump into this one. I forget how beautifully he wrote, though, so it's considerably more meaty than I expected. 💕 The legacy he left in a short 44 years is incredible.

A novel of impressions and vignettes more than a fast-paced plot. It's poetic and almost magical in a way. It draws on Saint-Exupéry's own experiences flying the mail routes in South America and is certainly a book I'll be reading again.

I'm in Montréal (heading home today) so of course I had to buy some French books ?
