Wild Hunger | Chloe Neill
11 posts | 14 read | 5 to read
In the first thrilling installment of Chloe Neill's spinoff to the New York Times bestselling Chicagoland Vampires series, a new vampire will find out just how deep blood ties run. As the only vampire child ever born, some believed Elisa Sullivan had all the luck. But the magic that helped bring her into the world left her with a dark secret. Shifter Connor Keene, the only son of North American Central Pack Apex Gabriel Keene, is the only one she trusts with it. But she's a vampire and the daughter of a Master and a Sentinel, and he's prince of the Pack and its future king. When the assassination of a diplomat brings old feuds to the fore again, Elisa and Connor must choose between love and family, between honor and obligation, before Chicago disappears forever.

I really liked this one. The main character‘s personality was a bit generic, but she had an enough positive traits to make up for that. I liked her relationship with Conner and her friends. Even though this is a spin off series of one I haven‘t read, I was able to understand the setting. The somewhat futuristic setting of Chicago was interesting and even though the magic was a bit too vague for me, I like how it was used in the plot.

Heirs of Chicagoland is the spin off series to Chicagoland and has 5 books. It involves the next generation of the core friendship group from Chicagoland approximately set 20 years in the future. The main character of this is Merit's daughter Elisa the only vampire ever born. Then her circle of friends finding their place in the supernatural world.

Continues in comments

RedxoHearts Including her kind of friend turned serious beau Connor who is Gabriel's son and a shifter. Future apex of the pack. It's a new world where the vampires and shifters have to learn to get along. Elisa also has a big secret she's been hiding from everyone her whole life. 8mo
RedxoHearts With Heirs of Chicagoland I was worried it would feel exactly the same as the other series but it didn't. I think the author did a good job at separating the kids lives from the parents. They really aren't huge characters in the Heirs books. Also I think the time jump and aging in the parent's personalities seemed natural in the storyline. 8mo

20+ years after Chicagoland, the daughter of Merit and Ethan Sullivan is finding her place in Vamp society. We‘re eased back into the world of the Vamps we knew and loved by reuniting characters before coming into its own. Elisa proves throughout the book that you can take the Vamp out of Cadogan house but you can‘t take the Cadogan out of the Vamp as she finds herself weaving in and out of trouble as only the daughter of Merit and Ethan could.

On the whole, I loved this book as a start to a new series. Taken on its own it is great, however, I didn‘t like the sneak peak the author gave into the lives of some of the characters from the previous series. I kind of want to read about all that glossed over turmoil and have an understanding of it so maybe it would seem so negative.

Elisa, the daughter of Ethan and Merit, is now 23. This puts the setting in the future. But something is happening in Chicago after 20 years of peace. Elisa and those around her must figure out what is happening and how to stop it.

Some of the future tech threw me off, but it was definitely interesting. Same feel as the other books and just as good.

Being a huge Chicagoland Vampires fan, I was afraid to pick this book up. I love all of the original series characters and I didn't want to be disappointed. Chloe Neill has definitely done this spin-off series justice and I devoured this book. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I give this one 3.5🌠. Mainly because this suffers from first in the series syndrome. Having to introduce all the characters can be cumbersome, and on top of that this is a spin off. In theory you could start this w/out reading the Chicagoland Vampires series, but you would be a bit lost. With that said, I really like the characters and the budding romance. Definitely looking forward to more. Great #audiobook #urbanfantasy #glorytotheguild

This book is the first in the sequel series the her Chicagoland Vampires books. Lots of funny lines like these and a lot more supernatural politics. I think it helps to have at least a basic knowledge of the prior series but it‘s not required. I enjoyed it and am glad I haven‘t seen the last of some of my favorite characters. #urbanfantasy #vampires #fairies #shapeshifters
