JenReadsAlot @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I've read a lot and enjoyed most! 2y
marleed This was the audiobook I listened to while I drove from my home in Kansas City to a new river walk apartment life in San Antonio. Anytime I see the cover posted I think of hearing the ending on my first walk down the Riverwalk from Pearl Brewery to find my new Starbucks! 2y

Happy Hump Day everyone!! My hubby bought me this book and I already had it 💙 he is the absolute best!! Soooo if anyone would like this copy drop a comment below ⬇️ 💛 US only for now…

#LitsyLove

Read4life I love Picoult‘s books. I haven‘t read this but you just gifted me a book so it‘s someone else‘s turn 💙 You are amazingly generous, Misty! 2y

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Read4life I love to share the love of books with others! It makes my heart happy ❤️ 2y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Escapinwithbooks let me know if you like it! Her books deal a lot with real life issues and some aren‘t pretty. I‘m slowly exchanging my paperbacks to hard cover of her books so I will have more to give away soon! 2y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Read4life have you read A Man Called Ove?? 2y
Escapinwithbooks I haven‘t but just put it on my wish list today because I want to read it before I watch the movie. I try to always read the book first, if I know there is a book. 2y
Read4life Yes, I have. I love Backman. I was lucky enough to have been given an accurate description of the book beforehand so I wasn‘t shocked. I keep seeing it portrayed as warm & funny. While it has its moments, it is definitely a serious read. Have you read it? 2y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Read4life yes.. I‘ve read it. My husband hasn‘t. It‘s been a while but I don‘t remember the scenes as graphic as they are saying in the movie.. 2y
Read4life I haven‘t seen Otto but I thought the book was more subtle than what I‘m hearing of the movie. Backman tackles serious topics & issues but I‘ve never thought of his writing as graphic. I don‘t remember the original movie being graphic either. 2y

Buddy reading this with a friend. I'm not sure how I'll feel about it. It's one of Picoult's few that I've never read before. We will see

#SavvySettings Prison
This was my bookclub's pick for the month. I couldn't get into the story, but in the beginning it takes place in the prison where one of the main characters is being held before his death sentence.
@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs

LinesUponAPage Jodi Picoult writes some of the most maddeningly sad books I‘ve ever read. I can see why it would be hard to get into. 3y

Cupcake12 One of my faves too. I remember reading “The Pact” when I was much younger and loved her honest style of writing ✍️ 5y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Cupcake12 she writes about such controversial issues that sometimes make me question “what would I really do in this situation?” 5y

There is a lot going on in this book, primarily religion and the death penalty. I found some of the religion “debates” interesting. The “magic” portions reminded me a bit of “The Green Mile”; one of the prisoners at one point nicknamed Shay “Green Mile”, which I did think was kind of a fun way to address that. At the same time, these events made the book less realistic for me. I still quite enjoyed it, though.

In meinen Augen bisher sogar total unrealistisch. 🙄

Mehso-so

I feel like I've had a string of so-so books lately. The method in which the audio book was presented was super cool, each chapter is from the viewpoint of one of 5 characters, each character is performed by a different "actor." I loved hat about it. Like listening to a play, but the plot was so close to that of The Green Mile, it felt ripped off.

So I'm listening to this one and it's actually being read by at least 3 different people which is cool, but is this just a lighter more uplifting Green Mile? Or do I just need to be more patient with it?

Was wohl weniger an Jodi Picoult liegt als an Leihfrist-Zwängen. ?

I love Jodi Picoult's novels. They always touch my heart. I would say it was a story of life and death in so many senses. The main characters had flaws, they were judged and judges. They were weak and strong. I will read this again in the future. Jodi's books will always have a home on my bookcases.

"Would you give up vengeance against someone you hate if it meant saving someone you love?" Like so many of Picoult's books, Change of Heart is full of controversy and ethical dilemma, in this case, capital punishment, organ donation, throw in a hefty mix of religion, molestation and some injustice. JP consistently writes in a manner that forces me to question things and reflect, and that is why I appreciate her books, regardless of the topic
